WHEELS … Starting at center, ch 8. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 4 (to count as d c and ch-1), * d c in ring, ch 1. Repeat from * until there are 14 d c made in ring, ch 1. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-4 first made (15 sps). 2nd rnd: * Ch 4, skip 1 sp, in next ch-1 sp make d c, tr, ch 5, tr and d c. Ch 4, skip 1 sp, s c in next d c. Repeat from * around, ending rnd with s c where sl st was made. Fasten off. Make another wheel in same way to within 2nd rnd. 3rd rnd: Ch 4, skip 1 sp, make d c and tr in next sp, ch 2, s c in ch-5 loop of first wheel, ch 2, tr and d c back in same sp as last d c and tr of 2nd wheel and complete as for 2nd rnd of previous wheel. Make the necessary number of wheels, joining each wheel to previous one as 2nd was joined to 1st and having 1 point free between joinings at top edge and 2 points free at lower edge.
HEADING … 1st row: Attach thread to 1st free ch-5 loop at top edge, * ch 7, tr tr in next joining, ch 2, tr tr in same joining, ch 7, s c in next ch-5. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: * 7 d c in ch-7 sp, d c in next tr, 2 d c in ch 2 sp, d c in next tr. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.
