Join with sl st to 1st s c made. 2nd row: Ch 3 (to count as d c), d c at base of ch-3, ch 2, 2 d c in same s c (shell); * ch 2, skip 3 s c, d c in next s c, ch 2, skip 3 s c; in next s c make 2 d c, ch 2, 2 d c. Repeat from * to within ½ inch from corner; make 2 more sps to corner, ch 2, d c in corner (increase), 2 more sps. Continue in this manner around. Join to 3rd st of ch-3 first made. 3rd row: Sl st to ch-2 of shell, ch 3, in ch-2 of shell make d c, ch 2 and 2 d c; * ch 2, d c over next d c, ch 2, shell over shell. Repeat from * around, increasing 2 sps at corners to keep work flat. Join. 4th row: Same as previous row, making ch-3 sps (instead of ch-2 sps). 5th row: Sl st to center of shell, ch 3, d c in shell, ch 3, s c in 1st ch made (p), 2 d c in same shell, * ch 3, d c in next d c, ch 3; in next shell make 2 d c, p, 2 d c. Repeat from * around, making p's over each sp at corners and making 2 increases as before. Fasten off.
