MOTIF … Starting at center, ch 10. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 4 d c in ring, ch 5, 5 d c in ring, ch 5, 5 d c in ring, ch 5. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, d c in each of next 4 d c, holding back the last loop of each d c on hook; thread over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten (a 5-d c cluster, counting ch-3 as 1 d c). * Ch 3, d c in ch-5 loop, ch 6, d c in same loop. Ch 4, 5-d c cluster over next 5 d c. Repeat from * around, ending with ch-3, sl st in tip of cluster. Fasten off.
Make another motif same as this to within last rnd. 3rd rnd: Ch 3 and make a cluster as before, ch 3, d c in next loop, ch 3, s c in corresponding loop of 1st motif, ch 3, d c in same loop back on 2nd motif (thus joining 2nd motif to 1st) and complete as for 1st motif. Make the necessary number of motifs, joining each to previous one as 2nd was joined to 1st.
HEADING … Attach thread to corner loop (between 2 d c), ch 11, * s c in tip of next cluster, ch 8, d c in joining (between motifs), ch 8. Repeat from * across. Fasten off.
