MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 1 ball of any color desired.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 5 or 6.
Starting at center, make a chain 3 inches long. 1st rnd: D c in 5th ch from hook, * ch 1, skip 1 ch, d c in next ch. Repeat from * across; (ch 1, d c in same place as last d c) 3 times; ch 1 and work along opposite side of foundation, making d c at base of each d c across; (ch 1, d c in same place as last d c) 3 times, ch 1. Join to 3rd st of turning ch. 2nd rnd: Ch 4, d c in same place as sl st, ch 1, d c in next d c, ch 1, d c in same place as last d c (2 ch-1 sps increased). Continue to make ch-1 sps to opposite side. Then inc. 3 ch-1 sps over the end sps; now make ch-1 sps across, ending with an increase. Join to 3rd st of ch-4 first made. Now work as for 2nd rnd, making the necessary increases at both ends to keep work flat, until piece measures 8 inches across center, lengthwise. Fasten off. Attach thread to sp at end of foundation chain; into each sp (make s c, pull loop on hook out ½ inch) 4 times, Work in this manner around until spaces are completely covered. Fasten off.
