MATERIALS:
J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 1 ball of color A and 1 ball of color B (2 balls of each color will make 3 pot holders).
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 7.
A bone ring.

Starting at bottom, with color A ch 60. 1st row: 7 tr in 6th ch from hook, drop st from hook, insert hook back in top st of turning ch and draw loop through the one on hook (a pc st); * ch 2, skip 1 ch, 7 tr in next ch; drop st from hook, insert hook back in last ch made and draw loop through the one on hook (pc st). Repeat from * once more, ch 2, skip 1 ch, 6 tr in next ch; thread over twice, insert hook in same st as last 6 tr, pull loop through and finish as for a tr until 2 loops remain on hook; drop color A, pull through color B and complete pc st. ** Ch 2, skip 1 ch, in next ch make 7 tr, drop st from hook, insert hook from back of work in last ch made and draw loop through the one on hook, thus making a pc st on wrong side (reversed pc st). Repeat from ** 3 more times, changing back to color A on last tr of last pc st. Work in this manner across row, making 4 regular pc sts and 4 reversed pc sts, alternating colors as specified, with ch-2 between each pc st (7 pc-groups in row). Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: Make groups of 4 reversed pc sts with color A, and 4 regular pc sts with color B, alternately across row (over corresponding sts below), with ch-2 between pc sts. Ch 4, turn. 3rd row: Make groups of 4 color A regular and 4 color B reversed pc sts alternately across, with ch-2 between pc sts. Ch 4, turn. These 3 rows complete one row of blocks. Work in this manner, alternating blocks and colors, until 5 rows of blocks are completed (see illustration). Fasten off. Sew bone ring at one corner.
