Wedding Rings Luncheon Mat Pattern

This set consists of 4 Mats each approximately 12-inches by 18-inches.

MATERIALS—D-M-C Six Cord Crochet, Art. 154, Size 20: 30 balls White or Ecru.

Steel Crochet Hook, Size 11.

FIRST ROW OF RINGSRing A (see Ring A of Fig 1 on detail diagram)—Ch 30 (chain 30 must always measure 2¼-inches), join (with slip st) in first ch to form ring. Rnd 1 (right side)—Ch 3, 54 dc in ring, join (in top ch of ch-3), fasten off. Ring B—Ch 30, from right side, insert chain down thru Ring A (see Ring B of Fig. 1 on diagram), join in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 54 dc in ring just made, join (see Ring B of Fig. 2 on detail diagram), fasten off. Make and join Rings as for Ring B until 24 Rings of row 1 have been completed. 2ND ROW OF RINGS—Ring C (see Ring C of Fig 2 on detail diagram)—Ch 30, from right side, insert chain down thru Ring A, join in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 54 dc in ring just made, join (thus completing first Ring of 2nd Row of Rings), fasten off. Ring D (see Ring D of Fig. 3 on detail diagram)—Ch 30, from right side, insert chain up thru Ring B of first row of Rings, over Ring B and up thru Ring C (see Fig. 3 on diagram), join in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 54 dc in ring, join, fasten off. Make and join Rings as for Ring D until 24 Rings of row 2 have been completed. Continue to work as for 2nd row of Rings (see Fig. 4 on diagram) until 16 rows have been completed.

EDGING—(Note: to make Picot, ch 3, slip st in last sc made)—From right side, working in back loop of sts, work [5 sc, a Picot, 4 sc] along outer edge of all outside Rings and [5 sc, a Picot, 5 sc, a Picot, 5 sc, a Picot, 4 sc] along outside edge of 4 corner Rings as shown on Fig. 4 on detail diagram, join in first sc, fasten off. Block and press.
