Make hairpin lace for desired length. Do not fasten off, ch 3, s c in each loop across (take care to keep twist of loops). Fasten off. Attach thread to 1st loop at opposite side, keeping right side of s c's on top, insert hook through same loop and through following 3 loops, make an s c, * ch 4 (to count as 1 tr) and complete a 3-tr cluster in same place as s c—to complete a 3-tr cluster make 2 tr, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook; thread over and draw through all loops, ch 1 tightly— ch 4, in tip of cluster just made complete a 3-tr cluster, 1 s c through next 4 loops (be sure to keep twist). Repeat from * across, ending with s c. Next row: Sl st across to top of last 2 clusters, ch 4, at tip of last 2 clusters complete a cluster, * ch 10, make 3 tr in same place as last cluster, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook, and complete cluster; 3-tr cluster at tip of next 2 clusters. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Following row: In each loop across make 15 s c. Fasten off.
