Make hairpin lace for desired length. Fasten off. Attach thread to 1st loop and, taking care to keep twist of loops throughout, make s c in each loop across. Fasten off. Attach thread to 1st loop at opposite side, s c in 1st loop, s c in next loop, * ch 5, s c in each of next 2 loops. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. Next row: * In next ch-5 sp make tr, ch 5 and tr; ch 5, s c in next sp, ch 5. Repeat from * across, ending with s c. Turn. Following row: Sl st to top of 1st loop, s c in loop, * in ch-5 between tr's make 3 d c, ch 3 and 3 d c (shell); s c in next loop (following tr's), ch 3, s c in next loop. Repeat from * across. Ch 5, turn. Next row: * Ch 5, in ch-3 of shell make s c, ch 3 and s c; ch 5, s c in next ch-3 sp. Repeat from * across, ending with ch-5, s c. Ch 1, turn. Last row: In each loop across make 5 s c. Fasten off.
