MATERIALS—Lily Mercrochet Cotton size 20:—1-ball Ecru; size 30—1-small ball each Dk. Yellow, Beauty Rose, Lavender and Pastels. Crochet hook size 13. Size—14".

CENTER—In Ecru, ch 10, sl st in 1st ch. Ch 3, 23 dc in ring, sl st in top of ch-3. ROW 2—Ch 5, tr in same st, (2 tr in next dc) 23 times, sl st in ch-5. ROW 3—Ch 14, sc in 2d ch from hook, over ch (not into sts) make 1 hdc, 12 dc, 3 hdc and 3 sc. Sc in next 4 tr. * Ch 13, turn, sl st in 9th st up last scroll, ch 1, turn, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 12 dc, 3 hdc and 3 sc) in lp, sc in next 4 tr. Repeat from * 10 times. Fasten off. Tack 1st and last scrolls tog. ROW 4—Sc in 1st 3 sts on one scroll, ch 14, sc in 2d ch from hook, then over ch make hdc, 12 dc, 3 hdc and 3 sc. * Sc in next 5 dc, ch 13, turn, sl st in 11th st up last scroll, ch 1, turn, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 12 dc, 3 hdc and 3 sc) in lp, sc in next 2 dc, sl st in next dc, ch 1, sc in 1st 3 sts on next scroll, ch 13, turn, sl st in 11th st up last scroll, ch 1, turn, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 12 dc, 3 hdc and 3 sc) in lp. Repeat from * around. Fasten off. Tack 1st and last scrolls tog. ROW 5—8 sc and 1 sl st around top of one scroll, (ch 1, 8 sc and 1 sl st around next scroll) repeated around. ROW 6—Sl st to center of next scroll, ch 6 for a tr, (ch 12, tr in center of next scroll) repeated around. Join to 6th st of 1st lp. ROW 7—Ch 6, (tr in next lp, ch 13, tr in next tr) repeated around. Join to top of ch-8, sl st in next tr. ROW 8—Ch 6, (2 tr in next lp, ch 14, sk 1 tr, tr in next tr) repeated around. Sl st in top of ch-6, sl st in 2 tr. ROW 9—Ch 6, (3 tr in next lp, ch 15, sk 2 tr, tr in next tr) repeated around. Sl st in ch-6, sl st in 3 tr. ROW 10—Ch 6, (4 tr in next lp, ch 16, sk 3 tr, tr in next tr) repeated around. Sl st in ch-6, sl st in 4 tr. ROW 11—Ch 6, (5 tr in next lp, ch 17, sk 4 tr, tr in next tr) repeated around. Sl st in ch-6, sl st in 5 tr. ROW 12—Ch 6, (7 tr in next lp, ch 17, sk 5 tr, tr in next tr) repeated around. Sl st in ch-6, sl st in 7 tr. ROW 13—Ch 6, (9 tr in next lp, ch 14, sk 7 tr, tr in next tr) repeated around and join. Fasten off.

PANSY—In Lavender, ch 8, sl st in 1st ch. Ch 2, (3 hdc in ring, ch 6, sl st in last hdc for a p) 5 times, sl st in 1st 2 hdc. ROW 2—* Ch 3, tr in next p, (ch 1, tr) 8 times in same p, ch 3, sc between ps on ring. Repeat from * 3 times. Ch 3, tr in next p, (ch 1, dtr) 11 times in same p, ch 1, tr in same p, ch 3, sc in ring. Fasten off. Edge—Join Pastels between 1st 2 petals, * ch 3, 2 dc in next ch-3, (ch 3, 2 dc in next sp) 9 times, ch 3, sc in ring between petals. Repeat from * once. ** Ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, (ch 5, sc in next sp) repeated around petal, ch 3, sc in ring. ** Ch 3, sc in next ch-3, (ch 5, sc in next sp) 6 times, ch 2, sl st in one lp on edge of Center, ch 2, sc back in next sp, (ch 5, sc in next sp) 6 times, ch 3, sc in ring. Repeat from ** to ** around final petal. Fasten off. Lap large bottom petal over side petals. Lap top petals over side petals. Lap right-hand top petal over left-hand top petal. Tack lightly. 2d Pansy—Make Rows 1 and 2 in Pastels, Edge in Yellow. Join it to next loop on Center and join it to previous Pansy by center lp on side petal of each. 3d Pansy—Make Row 1 and 2 in Rose, Edge in Pastels. 4th Pansy—Make Rows 1 & 2 in Pastels, Edge in Lavender. 5th Pansy—Make Rows 1 and 2 in Yellow, Edge in Pastels. 6th Pansy—Make Rows 1 and 2 in Pastels, Edge in Rose. Repeat these 6 Pansies 3 times (24 Pansies).

Stretch and pin doily right-side-down in a true circle. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
