Larkspur Table Doily Pattern #13

MATERIALS—Lily Mercrochet Cotton size 20:—4-balls White, 6-balls Baby Blue and 1-ball each Beauty Pink, Blue and Hunter Green. Lily Six Strand Floss:—4-sks. Dk. Yellow. (Sufficient for 4 Place Mats). Crochet hook size 13. Size—12 x 18 inches.

In Baby Blue, ch 15" long, 7 tr in 12th ch from hook, ch 3, sk 5 ch, dc in next ch, (ch 3, sk 5 ch, a 7-tr shell in next ch, ch 3, sk 5 ch, dc in next ch) 13 times. Cut and rip excess ch. The right side of shell-rows is right side of doily. ROW 2—Ch 5, turn, * dc in 1st tr of next shell, ch 4, (dc, ch 4, dc) in center tr of same shell, ch 4, dc in end tr of same shell, ch 1 and repeat from * across. ** After final dc, tr in next 4th ch. ROW 3—Ch 6, turn, 3 tr in tr, * (ch 3, sk next ch-4 sp, sc between next 2 dc, ch 3, sk next ch-4 sp, a 7-tr shell in one lp of ch-1 between next 2 dc) repeated across. * End with ch 3, 4 tr in top of end ch-5 (a half-shell). ROW 4—Ch 6, turn, dc in last tr, ch 4, sk 2 tr, dc in next tr, ch 1 and repeat Row 2 from * to **. End with ch 4, (dc, ch 2, dc) all in end ch-6. ROW 5—Ch 1, turn, sc in last dc, ch 3, sk next 2 dc, a 7-tr shell in one lp of next ch-1 sp. Repeat Row 3 from * to *. After final shell, ch 3, sc in end ch-6 lp. Repeat Rows 2, 3, 4 and 5 eleven times and Rows 2 and 3 again (26 rows of shells),—to measure about 11" long when stretched and blocked.

END BAND—Ch 1, turn, sc in last tr, (ch 3, sk 2 tr, hdc in next tr, ch 3, hdc in 1st tr in next shell, ch 3, sc in center tr of same shell) repeated across, ending with ch 3, sc in end ch-6. Cut 6" long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back. ROW 2—Turn, sc in White in last sc, ch 3, * 3 dc in next sp, dc in next st, 2 dc in next sp, holding back the last lp of each dc on hook, thread over and pull thru all 3 lps on hook (2-dc Cluster decrease), 1 more dc in same sp, dc in next st, 3 dc in next sp, dc in next st. Repeat from * across. ROW 3—Ch 3, turn, sk last dc, dc in each dc across. Repeat thru 29 White rows, working very tightly.

EDGE—Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in last dc, sc in each dc across, 3 sc in end st, 3 sc in end of each row across end of Band, 5 sc in each sp to corner, 10 sc in corner sp, (5 sc in next sp, sc in dc, 5 sc in next sp) repeated across, 10 sc in corner sp. Continue around in same way. End with 1 sc in 1st corner, sl st in 1st sc. ROW 2—Ch 20, sc in same corner, (ch 17, sk 9 sc, sc in next) repeated around with a ch-20 lp in each corner. ROW 3—25 sc in each corner lp and 19 sc in each ch-17 lp. ROW 4—Sl st in 1st 6 sc, ch 3, dc in next 2 sc, * (ch 4, sc in 4th ch from hook for a p) 3 times, ch 1, sk 1 sc, dc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * twice. (Sk 6 sc on next lp, dc in next 3 sc, a 3-p lp, sk 1 sc, dc in next 3 sc) repeated to corner. Sk 5 sc on corner lp, dc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * around, join and fasten off.

PINK LARKSPUR—In Pink, * ch 13, sc in 3d st from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in 2 ch, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sl st in next ch, (ch 7, sc in 3d st from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in 2 ch, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sl st in same st with sl st at end of previous petal) 4 times (completing one flower). Repeat from * thru 15 flowers. End—(Ch 9, sk last 2 ch, sc, hdc and 2 dc on ch, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sl st in next ch) twice, (ch 8, sl st in 7th ch from hook) 3 times. Fasten off.

CENTER BLUE LARKSPUR—Repeat thru 20 flowers. Repeat End. 3d LARKSPUR—In Baby Blue, repeat thru 12 flowers. Repeat End. 1st STEM—In Green, make a ch 2¼" long, sk last st, sc in each remaining ch. Fasten off.

2d STEM—Make ch 3" long. 3d STEM—Make ch 2½" long.

RIBBON—In Pink, ch 210 loosely. Working tightly again, sk last 3 ch, 3 dc in next ch, dc in each remaining ch. ROW 2—Ch 1, turn, sl st in last dc, (ch 2, sl st in next 2 dc) repeated to end. Fasten off. Make a short piece for center of bow.

Tack Larkspurs on End Band, overlapping flowers in a zigzag spike. In Yellow Floss, make a French Knot in center of each flower. Tack Stems in place, form ribbon into a bow and tack over Stems.

Stretch and pin doily right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.
