Materials:
Clark's O.N.T. or J. & P. Coats Mercer­ized Crochet Size 30 in White, Ecru, or Boilfast color.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 9 or 10.

To begin, ch 6 and join into ring. 1st rnd: Ch 10, * 1 d tr (thread over 3 times) in ring, ch 5, and re­peat from * 6 more times, then sl st to 5th st of ch-10 first made. 2nd rnd: 1 s c in each st, join. 3rd rnd: Ch 3 (to count as 1 d c), * ch 9, turn, skip 1 st of ch-9, 1 s c in each of next 2 sts, 1 d c in each of next 2 sts, 1 tr in each of next 2 sts, 1 d tr in each of next 2 sts, skip 5 s c, 1 d c in next s c. Repeat from * 7 more times (8 pyra­mids in all). Omit d c after last pyra­mid and join in 3rd st of ch-3. Break off. 4th rnd: Attach thread to tip of pyramid, ch 2 (to count as 1 s c), * ch 6, 1 tr in center st of side of pyra­mid keeping last 2 loops on hook, 1 tr in st in same position on opposite pyramid, keeping last 2 loops on hook, then thread over and draw through all 4 loops on hook. Ch 6, s c in tip of next pyramid, and repeat from * around, joining in ch-2 first made. 5th rnd: S c in each of 21 sts, * ch 10, 1 d c in 6th ch from hook, ch 2, 1 d c in same ch, ch 5, sl st in same st, 1 sl st in each of 4 remaining sts of ch-10 (this forms a corner). S c in each of next 28 sts, and repeat from * ending rnd with 1 s c in each of last 6 sts. Join with sl st. 6th rnd: Ch 10, skip 6 s c, 1 d c in next s c, * ch 6, skip 6 s c, 1 tr in next s c, ch 6, 1 d c in 1st little loop of corner, ch 5,1 d c in next loop, ch 5, 1 d c in same loop, ch 5, 1 d c in last loop, ch 6, skip 6 s c, 1 tr in next s c, ch 6, skip 6 s c, 1 d c in next s c. Repeat from * ending rnd with ch-6. Join to 4th st of ch-6 first made. 7th rnd: 1 s c in each set of previ­ous rnd with 3 s c in each corner st (4 corners in all).
