Cushions, footstool covers, frames for pictures, and other attractive articles may be inexpensively made by using Clark's O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton, J. & P. Coats Crochet Cord or J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton Size 5, to develop designs similar to this one. Suggested color combinations for alternate blocks are:

68 Skipper Blue and 84 Beige
106 Sport Green and 9 Yellow
12 Black and 26 Nile Green
Pearl Cotton

Use needlepoint canvas or hardanger net for the background. Determine the type of design preferred. Any of the simple cross stitch designs can be carried out, or you may create your own design of alternating colored blocks as illustrated.

Use two strands of size 5 Pearl Cotton, or Knitting and Crochet Cotton or Crochet Cord, and a No. 23 Milward's tapestry needle. Fill in the design with a tapestry stitch.
