Edging. Attach thread to one end of foundation row and, working across short side, make 1 bl over 1st d c of 1st row, * ch 1, 1 bl over 1st d c of next row, repeat from * to next corner. Then, ch 1, 1 bl in corner sp, ch 1, 1 bl in same corner sp. ** Ch 1, skip 1 sp, 1 bl in next sp, repeat from ** along outer edge and continue down other short side to correspond. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: 1 bl in 1st sp, * ch 1, 1 bl in next sp. Repeat from * around (except neck edge), making corners as for previous row. Work a row of s c across neck edge. Break off. Make a ch-8 loop on one end of collar and sew a button on opposite end to correspond.
Cuffs. Starting at wrist, work as for collar making 40 sps for foundation row (to measure about 7½ inches), and omitting increases after 2nd row. In the 1st row of block pattern work as follows: 16 sps, * 1 bl, 16 sps, repeat from * across. Continue in pattern as for collar. Fasten cuff in same way as for collar.
