A shuttle.
1 yd. ribbon ½-inch wide.

1st rnd: Starting at sole, make r of 3 ds, 5 p's sep. by 3 ds, 3 ds, cl. Sp (⅛-inch), r of 3 ds, join to last p of previous r, 3 ds, 4 p's sep. by 3 ds, 3 ds, cl. Rw. Sp (⅛-inch), r of 3 ds, join to 1st p at opposite side of 1st r, 3 ds, 4 p's sep. by 3 ds, cl. * Rw. Sp (⅛-inch), r of 3 ds, join to last p of r at opposite side. Repeat from * until there are 10 r's on both sides, then make another r as before, but joining at both sides at 1st and last p's. Tie securely. Break off. 2nd rnd: R of 3 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, join to center p of 1st r made in previous rnd, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch). R of 3 ds, 5 p's sep. by 3 ds, 3 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch). R of 3 ds, join to 1st p of 1st r made, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, join to same p where last r was joined, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, cl (1 r increased). Rw. Hereafter continue as for 1st rnd, but joining center p of each r on one side to center p of each r of previous rnd, and making another increase as before at opposite end. Join last r at both sides at 1st and last p's.

Toe. Count off the center 8 r's at one end of sole and mark with a pin. Then work over these 8 r's as for 1st rnd, joining center p of one side to center p of adjacent r (thus forming toe).

Medallion. Starting at center, make r of 1 ds, lp, * 2 ds, lp. Repeat from * 10 more times, 1 ds, cl. (12 lp's in rnd). Tie securely and break off. Sr of 3 ds, join to lp of r just made, 3 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch), lr of 3 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, skip end r of toe, join to center p of next r (next to toe end), 3 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch), sr 3 ds, join to next p of center r, 3 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch), lr of 3 ds, join to p of lr made previously, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, join to center p of next toe r, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch), sr same as before, join to next p of center r. Rw, sp (¼-inch), lr of 3 ds, join to last p of previous lr, 3 ds, join to next r of toe, 3 ds, join to next r of toe, 3 ds, join to next r of toe, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, cl. Rw. Continue thus around, joining center p's of next 2 lr's to center p's of next 2 r's of toe, and complete rnd, alternating lr's and sr's as before. Make 5 more medallions, joining center p's of 3 r's to adjacent p's of previous medallion and joining center p's of 3 r's to adjacent p's on sole, leaving a lr free between medallions on sole.

Beading. 1st rnd: R of 2 ds, 3 p's sep. by 2 ds, 2 ds, cl. ** Rw, sp (⅛-inch), r of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch), r of 2 ds, join to last p of 1st r made, 2 ds, p, 2 ds, p, 2 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch), r of 4 ds, join to last p of adjacent r, 4 ds, cl. Rw, sp (¼-inch), r of 2 ds, join to last p of previous r, 2 ds, p, 2 ds, p, 2 ds, cl. Repeat from ** around, joining to center p's of r's in each medallion. Break off. 2nd rnd: * R of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw, r of 4 ds, join to center p of each of 2 r's of previous rnd, 4 ds, cl. Rw, r of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw, r of 4 ds, join to same p's as last r was joined, 4 ds, cl. Rw. Repeat from * around. Fasten and break off. Run ribbon through beading, and tie.
