Center Medallion. Starting at center, make sr of 4 ds, 5 p's sep. by 3 ds, 4 ds, cl. Sr of 4 ds, join to last p of previous r, 3 ds, 4 p's sep. by 3 ds, 4 ds, cl. Make another r same as last r, cl. R of 4 ds, join to last p of previous r, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, p, 3 ds, join to 1st p of 1st sr, 4 ds, cl. Tie securely and cut off. 1st rnd: * Sr of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, join to last of 3 free p's of center r, 4 ds, join to 1st free p of next center r, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw. Attach ball thread, ch of 4 ds, 7 p's sep. by 2 ds, 4 ds. Rw, lr of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, join to next center p of center r, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw, make a ch as before. Repeat from * around, joining last ch to sr first made. Tie securely and cut off. 2nd  rnd: * Sr of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, join to last p of ch of 2nd rnd, 4 ds, join to 1st p of next ch, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw, ch of 3 ds, 7 p's sep. by 2 ds, 3 ds, rw. Lr of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, sk 2 p's of ch, join to next p, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw, make a ch as before. Repeat from * around, joining last ch to 1st sr made. This completes center medallion.

Small Medallion. Starting at center, lr of 2 ds, 8 p's sep. by 3 ds, 1 ds, cl. Tie securely and cut off. * Make r of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, join to p of center r, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw. Attach ball thread, ch of 3 ds, 5 p's sep. by 2 ds, 3 ds, rw. R of 4 ds, join to last p of previous r, 4 ds, join to next p of center r, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl. Rw. Make a ch as before. Repeat from * around, joining center p of each of 2 ch's to center p of ch's on center medallion, and joining last ch to r first made. Make 7 more medallions same as this, but joining the center p of ch to center p of ch on previous medallion, and taking care to join the last medallion at center p of adjacent medallions.
