Repeat from * across (number of spaces should be divisible by 40). Ch 3, turn. 4th row: * D c in each of next 2 ch, d c in next d c. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: D c in each of 21 d c (7 bls), ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c (1 sp); make 4 more sps, d c in each of next 45 d c (15 bls), * 5 sps, 15 bls. Repeat from * across, ending with 8 bls. Ch 3, turn. Hereafter, starting at 6th row, follow chart until 26 rows are completed, always repeating the design the necessary number of times. Now find the center 117 sps of lace and mark with pins (for 1st row of center design). Starting at 27th row, follow chart to top. Fasten off.
