Lace is 15 inches deep. One pattern measures about 10 inches wide, and requires about 295 yds. of thread.

MATERIALS:
Choose one of the following threads in White, size 50:
Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Crochet.
J. & P. Coats Mercerized Crochet.
J. & P. Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet.
Milward's steel crochet hook No. 11.

GAUGE: 6 sps make 1 inch; 6 rows make 1 inch.

Starting at short side, ch 204 to measure about 15½ inches. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each of next 2 ch, ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch (1 sp); make 15 more sps, d c in each of next 3 ch (1 bl); 2 sps, 2 bls, 3 sps, 1 bl, 10 sps, 1 bl, 29 sps, 1 bl. Ch 14, turn. 2nd row: D c in 4th ch from hook, d c in each of next 10 ch, d c in next d c (4 bls increased); ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c, 11 more sps, d c in each of next 2 ch, d c in next d c (1 bl); 6 more bls, 3 sps, 5 bls, 4 sps, 3 bls, 8 sps, 2 bls, 4 sps, 1 bl, 17 sps, 1 bl. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: 1 bl, 13 sps, 2 bls, 3 sps, 1 bl, 1 sp, 2 bls, 8 sps, 2 bls, 11 sps, 1 bl, 2 sps, 9 bls, 13 sps, 1 bl, ch 2, make a foundation d c—to make a foundation d c, thread over, insert hook in 3rd st of turning ch, thread over and draw loop through; thread over and draw through one loop, thus making a chain st; complete as for a d c. Make 2 more foundation d c by inserting hook in the ch of previous d c; make another d c in the usual way (1 bl increased). Ch 3, turn. Hereafter, starting at 4th row, follow chart until 31 rows are completed; turn. 32nd row: Sl st in each of 4 d c (1 bl decreased), ch 3 and follow chart across. Ch 3, turn. Now follow chart to top row. Then repeat entire design for desired length.
