MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 5 (Large Ball), 1 ball each of Red and White … Steel Crochet Hook No. 3 ... A bone ring.

Use double thread throughout

   With Red make a chain 8 inches long. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across until piece meas­ures 5½ inches, having a number of sc divisible by 6 with 3 over. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in next 2 sc, insert hook in next sc and draw loop through, drop Red, pick up a loop of White and draw loop through, thus changing colors. Always change color in this manner. Working over unused color, make sc in next 2 sc, insert hook in next sc, draw loop through, pick up unused color, * make 3 Red sc, 3 White sc. Repeat from * across, ending with 3 Red sc. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Work­ing with Red over White, sc in each sc across. 4th row: Repeat 2nd row re­versing colors. 5th row: Repeat 3rd row. Repeat 2nd to 5th rows incl until piece is square, ending with the 3rd row.

EDGING1st rnd: With Red sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner. Join and break off. 2nd rnd: With White sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each cor­ner. Join. 3rd rnd: Repeat 2nd rnd. Join and break off.
   Sc closely around bone ring. Join and break off. Sew ring to corner.
