Centerpiece measures 11½ inches in diameter;Coaster measures 5 inches in diameter

GAUGE: 14 sc make 1 inch; 12 rnds make 1 inch.

CENTERPIECE … Starting at center with Blue, ch 2. 1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (14 sc). 3rd rnd: * 2 sc in next sc (1 sc increased), sc in next sc. Repeat from * around (21 sc). Mark beginning of each rnd to insure proper shaping. 4th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * around (28 sc). 5th rnd: * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * around (35 sc). 6th to 42nd rnds incl: Sc in each sc around, increasing 7 sc evenly around (294 sc on 42nd rnd). At end of 42nd rnd, sl st in first sc. Break off. 43rd rnd: Attach Ecru in same place as sl st, ch 6, * skip next 2 sc, dc in next sc, ch 3. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of ch-6. 44th and 45th rnds: Ch 6, * dc in next dc, ch 3. Repeat from * around. Join. 46th, 47th and 48th rnds: Ch 7, * dc in next dc, ch 4. Repeat from * around. Join. 49th, 50th and 51st rnds: Ch 8, * dc in next dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join. 52nd, 53rd and 54th rnds: Ch 9, * dc in next dc, ch 6. Repeat from * around. Join. 55th to 60th rnds incl: Ch 10, * dc in next dc, ch 7. Repeat from * around. Join. Break off at end of 60th rnd. 61st rnd: Attach Blue in same place as sl st, sc in same place, * ch 7, sc in 7th ch from hook, ch 4, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Sl st in first sc. Break off.

COASTER (Make 5) … Starting at center with Blue, ch 2. 1st to 21st rnds incl: Work as for Centerpiece (147 sc on 21st rnd). At end of 21st rnd, sl st in first sc. Break off. 22nd and 23rd rnds: With Ecru work as for 43rd and 44th rnds on Centerpiece. 24th to 29th rnds incl: Repeat 46th to 51st rnds incl of Centerpiece. 30th rnd: Attach Blue in same place as sl st, sc in same place, * ch 5, sc in 5th ch from hook, ch 2, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Sl st in first sc. Break off.
