MATERIALS:

CLARK'S O.N.T. or J. & P. COATS PEARL COTTON, size 5, 4 balls of White and 3 balls of Shaded Pinks.
Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.

BASE1st rnd: With White, ch 5, in 4th ch from hook make 14 d c. Join with sl st to top of starting ch. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, 2 d c in each st around (29 sts). Join. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, * d c in next st, 2 d c in next st. Repeat from * around (43 sts). 4th and 5th rnds: D c in each st around, increasing 14 sts on 4th rnd and 9 sts on 5th rnd (66 sts, and piece measures 2½ inches in diameter). Join. Ch 1, turn. Next rnd: Sl st in each st around. Join with sl st to 1st sl st. Ch 1, turn. Following rnd: S c in each sl st around (66 sts). Join to 1st s c made.

SIDE1st rnd: Ch 3 (to count as 1 d c), d c in next 4 sts, * pc st in next st—to make a pc st, ch 1, make 3 tr in next st, drop loop from hook, insert hook in ch-1 preceding 3 tr, and draw dropped loop through; d c in next 5 sts. Repeat from * around, ending with pc st. Join to top of starting ch-3. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, d c in each d c and in tip of each pc st around (66 sts). Join. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, d c in next st, * pc st in next st, d c in next 5 sts. Repeat from * around, ending with d c in 3 sts. Join. 4th rnd: Repeat 2nd rnd. These 4 rnds constitute pattern. Repeat 1st and 2nd rnds once more. Fasten off White, attach Shaded Pinks and work 3rd and 4th rnds. Now repeat pattern with Shaded Pinks, until side measures 3 inches. Fasten off.

   Make 5 more jackets same as this.
