Materials: Clark’s O.N.T. Knitting and Crochet Cotton 2 balls of White or Ecru. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 6.

When completed, chair back measures about 12 x 15½ inches, and each arm piece about 7½ x 9½ inches.

Chair Back. Ch 156 to measure about 16½ inches, turn. 1st row: D c in 4th ch from hook, and d c in each ch across (154 d c), ch 3, turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: D c in each st. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: D c in each of next 6 d c (2 bls), ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c, ch 2, ** skip 2 d c, d c in each of next 10 d c, * ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c. Repeat from * 3 more times, ch 2, and repeat from ** across, ending row with 7 d c, ch 3, turn. 5th to 7th rows incl: D c in d c, and sp over sp. Ch 3, turn. 8th row: 2 bls, * ch 8, skip all sts until the 4th d c of next 10-d c group, 1 d c in this 4th d c, 1 d c in each of next 3 d c (1 bl), ch 8, skip remainder of same 10-d c group and next 2 sps, d c in next d c, ch 2, d c in next d c (this sp is made over the center sp of 5-sp group of previous row). Repeat from * across, ending row with 7 d c, ch 3, turn. 9th, 10th and 11th rows: D c in d c, ch 8 over ch-8, and sp over sp, ch 3, turn. 12th row: D c in each of next 6 d c (2 bls), ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch, ch 2, ** skip 2 ch, d c in each of next 3 ch, d c in each of next 4 d c, d c in each of next 3 ch, * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next st, repeat from * 3 more times, ch 2, and repeat from ** across, ending row with 7 d c. Ch 3, turn. Repeat from beginning of 5th row until work measures 11 inches (6 block patterns). Then work 3 rows of d c to correspond with the first 3 rows. Break off.

Arm Pieces. Ch 85, and work as for chair back for 9 inches (5 block patterns). Then work 3 rows of d c to correspond with the first 3 rows.
