Materials: J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 1 ball each of colors 84 Beige, 106 Sport Green and 82 Autumn Glow. Milward's steel crochet hook No. 6.

When completed, chair back measures about 11 x 16 inches, and each arm piece about 8 x 11 inches.

Chair Back. With Sport Green, ch 111 to measure 11 inches, turn. 1st row: D c in 6th ch from hook, d c in each of next 6 ch (2 bls), * ch 2, skip 2 ch, d c in next ch (1 sp), make 5 more sps, then d c in each of next 6 ch, repeat from * across, ending row with ch 2, d c in last ch, ch 3, turn. 2nd row: ** 2 d c in sp, d c in each of next 7 d c, 2 d c in next sp, d c in next d c (4 bls), ch 2, d c in next d c (1 sp), make 3 more sps, repeat from ** across, ending row with 4 bls, ch 3, turn. 3rd row: D c in each d c and sp over each sp of previous row. Ch 5, turn. 4th row: * Skip 2 d c, d c in each of next 7 d c, ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c, then make 4 more sps, ch 2, repeat from * across, ending row with 1 sp. Break off. 5th row: Attach Autumn Glow, ch 5, * d c in 1st d c of 7-d c, ch 2, skip 2 d c, d c in next d c, make 3 more sps, 2 d c in next sp, d c in next d c, 2 d c in next sp, d c in d c (2 bls), ch 2, and repeat from * across, ending row with 5 sps. Ch 5, turn. 6th row: * Make 4 sps, 4 bls, repeat from * across, ending row with 4 sps. Ch 5, turn. 7th row: Sp over sp and d c in each d c of previous row. Ch 5, turn. 8th row: * Make 5 sps, 2 bls, and repeat from * across, ending row with 5 sps. Break off. These 8 rows constitute the pattern. Repeat pattern throughout, alternating the colors at the end of every 4 rows as follows: Work with Green, then Beige, Green, Autumn Glow, Green, Beige, Green, Autumn Glow, Green, Beige, Green, Autumn Glow, and Green. Break off.

To Finish Edges: Attach Beige to one corner and work as follows: 1st rnd: Work 1 rnd of s c closely together around 4 sides, making 7 s c in each corner loop. 2nd rnd: Work s c in each s c of previous rnd, picking up only the back loop of each s c, making a ch-3 p in every 12th s c and 3 p's at each corner.

Arm Pieces: With Sport Green, ch 111 to measure 11 inches, turn, and work as for chair back, having only 7 stripes instead of 15 stripes.

For a terrace luncheon set, a new note can be introduced by the introduction of these rustic colors. Make such a set using the same directions as for the chair back and it will be admired by many.
