CHAIR SET

ARM PIECES … Starting at bottom, make a chain about 8 inches long (15 ch sts to 1 inch). 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across until there are 82 dc in all (counting the turning ch). Ch 3, turn. Cut off remaining chain. 2nd row: Dc in next dc and in each dc across. Dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Dc in next 9 dc (3 bls made), ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (sp made). Make 7 more sps, dc in next 3 dc (bl made). Make 3 sps, 1 bl, 8 sps, dc in next 8 dc and in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Dc in next 6 dc, ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc (sp made over sp). Make 2 more sps, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next dc (bl made over sp). Make 1 more bl 11 sps, 2 bls, 4 sps, 2 bls. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: 2 bls, 2 sps, 6 bls, 3 sps, 1 bl, 3 sps, 6 bls, 2 sps, 2 bls. Ch 3, turn. 6th row: 2 bls, 1 sp, 3 bls, ch 3, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (lacet made). Make (3 bls, 1 sp) twice; 3 bls, lacet, 3 bls, 1 sp, 2 bls. Ch 3, turn. 7th row: 5 bls, 1 sp, ch 5, dc in next dc (bar made over lacet). Make (1 sp, 4 bls) twice; 1 sp, 1 bar, 1 sp, 5 bls. Ch 3, turn. 8th row: 4 bls, ch 5, skip 1 bl and ch-2, dc in next dc (bar made). Ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, dc in next dc (lacet made over bar), ch 5, skip 1 sp and 3 dc, dc in next dc (another bar made). Make 2 bls, 3 sps, 2 bls, bar, lacet, bar, 4 bls. Ch 3, turn. Starting with 9th row follow Chart for Pattern Stitch to 27th row incl. Repeat the 21st to 27th rows incl once more, then start with 46th row and work to top of chart. Fasten off.

CHAIR BACK … Starting at bottom, make a chain about 20 inches long (15 ch sts to 1 inch). 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across until there are 238 dc in all (counting the turning ch). Mark every 25th dc with a safety pin as an aid in counting. Ch 3, turn. Cut off remaining chain. 2nd row: Dc in next dc and in each dc across. Dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Dc in next 9 dc (3 bls made), ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (sp made). Make 7 more sps, dc in next 3 dc (bl made). Make (3 sps, 1 bl, 8 sps, 1 bl) 5 times; dc in next 6 dc and in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: 2 bls, 4 sps, 2 bls, (11 sps, 2 bls) 5 times; 4 sps, 2 bls. Ch 3, turn. Starting with 5th row, follow Chart for Pattern Stitch to top, working lacets and bars as for Arm Pieces. Section of chart between letters A and B is worked 5 times across width of Chair Back. Fasten off.

RUNNER

Starting at bottom, make a chain about 1 yard long (15 ch sts to 1 inch). 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across until there are 394 dc in all (counting the turning ch). Mark every 25th dc with a safety pin as an aid in counting. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in next dc and in each dc across. Dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Dc in next 9 dc (3 bls made), ch 2, skip 2 dc, dc in next dc (sp made). Make 7 more sps, dc in next 3 dc (bl made). Make (3 sps, 1 bl, 8 sps, 1 bl) 9 times; dc in next 6 dc and in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: 2 bls, 4 sps, 2 bls (11 sps, 2 bls) 9 times; 4 sps, 2 bls. Ch 3, turn.
