Starting at center, ch 20, join with sl st. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 47 d c in ring; join. 2nd rnd: D c in each d c around. Do not break off, but work petals as follows: 1st row: * Ch 5, skip 1 st, s c in next st. Repeat from * 2 more times. Ch 7, turn. 2nd to 6th rows incl: S c in next loop, * ch 5, s c in next loop. Repeat from * once more. Ch 7, turn. Do not ch 7 at end of 6th row. 7th row: Sl st to center of next loop, ch 5, s c in next loop, ch 5, s c in next loop; turn. 8th row: Sl st to center of next loop, ch 8, s c in next loop. Fasten off. * Skip 2 d c at base of petal, attach thread in next st and work another petal. Repeat from * until 6 petals are made. Attach thread between 2 free d c's between petals and work over a cord (or 4 strands of same thread) as follows:
   1st rnd: S c where thread was attached, * 4 s c in 1st loop, 3 s c in each loop of next 6 rows, 11 s c in loop at tip of petal. Work other side to correspond, s c between 2 d c's at base of petals. Repeat from * 5 more times. Join. Cut off cord. 2nd rnd: S c in same place as sl st, * ch 2, skip 2 s c, d c in next s c. Repeat from * 7 more times, ch 2; d c in each of next 7 s c, with ch-2 between; ** ch 2, skip 2 s c, d c in next s c. Repeat from ** 6 more times, ch 2, s c in s c between petals. Work in this manner over each of remaining 5 petals. 3rd rnd: Sl st to 3rd sp and, working over cord, make 3 s c in sp, * work 3 s c, ch 3 and 3 s c closely over cord only; skip 1 sp, 3 s c in next sp. Repeat from * 8 more times; 3 s c in 3rd sp of next petal and work thus around. Join. Fasten off.
