Towel Edging & Insertion Pattern #6966

MATERIALS REQUIRED.—1 ball Royal Society Crochet Cotton, White, size 5.

EDGING

First Row.—1 sc. into material, Ch. 1, 1 sc. into material and so on across the end of towel. Turn.

Second Row.—Ch. 4, skip one, 1 dc. into the next sc. of first row, Ch. 1, skip one, 1 dc. into the next sc., and so on across. Turn.

Third Row.—Ch. 3, skip first ch. of last row, and make 1 dc. into each following ch. and so on across. Turn.

Fourth Row.—Ch. 3, skip one, 2 dc., one into each, ch. 2, skip 2 * 2 dc., one into each, ch. 2, skip 2, 3 dc., ch. 2, and repeat from * all across. Turn.

Fifth Row.—Ch. 5, 1 sc. into the first hole, ch. 5, 1 sc. into the next hole, and so on across. Turn.

Sixth Row.—3 sc. into first loop, ch. 5, catch back into first ch. to form picot, 3 sc. into the same loop and repeat this all across.

INSERTION

Crochet a chain a little over the width of the towel, skip 5, 1 tr.c. into the 6th ch., 1 tr.c. into the 7th ch. * ch. 2, skip 2, 2 tr.c., one into each, ch. 2, skip 2, 3 tr.c., one into each and repeat from *.

Baste insertion into place and button hole on to towel with Crochet Cotton. Cut out towel from underneath insertion. Before crocheting edge make a narrow hem on end of towel. Make insertion for one end only and edging for both ends.
