MATERIALS REQUIRED.—1 ball Royal Society Crochet Cotton, size 5, any color, Crochet hook, No. 6.
Ch. 12 close in ring.
First Row: Ch. 3, 35 d. c. slip in Ch. 3rd.
Second Row: Turn, take up only one stitch of Ch. (the furthest one) formed by the d. c. of previous row, 1 s. c. in each stitch.
Third Row: Turn and repeat last row.
Fourth Row: Take up both stitches of Ch. formed by the last row. Ch. 3, miss 1, 3 d. c. (*) Ch. 3, 3 d. c. Repeat from (*) 7 times, 3 d. c., Ch. 3, miss 1, 7 s. c.
Fifth Row: Ch. 3, 2 d. c. in the center stitch of each block. Ch. 2, 2 d. c. in the same stitch. Ch. 3, 2 s. c. in the 2 Ch. st. next to s. c. of previous row, 7 s. c. in the s. c. and 2 over the 2 Ch. st. at the other side (11 s. c. in all).
Sixth Row: Ch. 3, (*) 2 d. c., in hole between the 2 d. c. of previous row. Ch. 3, 2 d. c. in the same hole. Ch. 6. Repeat from (*) 8 times. Ch. 3, 15 s. c.
Seventh Row: (*) Ch. 3, 9 d. c. in hole between the 2 d. c. of previous row. Ch. 3, 1 s. c. over the Ch. 3 of 5th and Ch. 6 of 6th row. Repeat from (*) 19 s. c.
Eighth Row: Ch. 12, 1 s. c. in the 5th d. c. Repeat 8 times. Ch. 6, 23 s. c.
Ninth Row: Ch. 3, 12 d. c. over each loop. Ch. 5, 27 s. c.
Tenth Row: Ch. 3, 3 d. c. in next 3 d. c. (*) Ch. 3, 6 d. c. Repeat from (*) 16 times. Ch. 3, 3 d. c., Ch. 6, 31 s. c.
Eleventh Row: Ch. 3, 2 d. c., Ch. 3, 2 d. c. in each hole. Ch. 4 in between, Ch. 6, 35 s. c.
Twelfth Row: Ch. 3, 2 d. c., Ch. 3, 2 d. c. in each small hole. Ch. 6 in between, Ch. 6, 39 s. c.
Thirteenth Row: Ch. 3, (*) 2 d. c. in next hole. P. (Ch. 4, 1 s. c. in 1st Ch.). Repeat 3 times from (*), 1 d. c. in the same hole. Ch. 3, 1 s. c. over the loops of the two last rows. Repeat from star all around and crochet over the top part 43 s. c. Fasten off ends. Both sides of bag are worked alike and crocheted together as follows: Do not fasten off ends when the other side of bag is finished, but continue. Ch. 2, 1 s. c. in the next picot, Ch. 2, 1 s. c. in the same picot of the first made side of bag. Ch. 2, 1 s. c. in the side of bag which you hold in your left hand. Ch. 2, take out hook, insert it in picot of the side to your right, take up loop, thread and pull through. When both sides are thus joined together, crochet over the top part of bag.
First Row: Ch. 5, miss 2, 1 d. c. in 3rd stitch. Continue all around. Ch. 2, miss 2, 1 d. c. in 3rd. For the last hole, Ch. 2, slip in 3rd Ch. where you began this row.
Second Row: Ch. 15, miss 1 d. c. and make 1 s. c. in the next d. c.
Third Row: 22 s. c. over, each loop. Fasten off.
Fourth Row: .2 d. c., Ch. 3, 2 d. c. in each loop. Ch. 3 in between.
Fifth Row: Sl. st. until you reach small hole. Ch. 3, 1 d. c., Ch. 3, 2 d. c., Ch. 3, 2 d. c., Ch. 3, 2 d. c. in each hole.
Sixth Row: Sl. st. until you reach small hole. Crochet into it 2 d. c., P. 4 times, add another d. c., Ch. 3, 1 s. c. over the loops of the 2 last rows. Repeat all around, which finishes the bag.
For Cordhangers use double thread. Make a chain one yard long or longer. Crochet one row of sl. st. into it. Make two cords of the same size, pull one through the small holes, and the other through the larger ones.
