MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 1 ball each of No. 48 Hunter's Green and No. 10-A Canary Yellow ... Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 4 ... A bone ring.

Use thread double throughout.

BODY ... Starting at center with Hunter's Green, ch 14. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, half dc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch, tr in next 6 ch, dc in next 2 ch, sc in next ch. Now work in rnds. 1st rnd: Working along opposite side of starting chain make 2 sc in first ch, sc in each ch across, 2 sc in last ch, sc in each st across. 2nd rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 2 sc over each end and 2 sc on each long side—to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc. 3rd rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 2 sc over both ends. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rnds alternately until 13 rnds have been completed. 14th and 15th rnds: Sc in each sc around. Break off at end of 15th rnd. Attach a single strand of Canary Yellow and sc in each st around.

Join and break off. With Canary Yellow, embroider markings on back in chain st.

STOMACH ... Using Canary Yellow, work exactly as for Body until 15 rnds have been completed. Break off.

HEAD ... Starting at center with Green, ch 7. 1st rnd: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch; working along opposite side of starting chain, sc in each ch across. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds: Sc in each sc around, increasing 3 sc evenly at each rounded end. Break off at end of 4th rnd.

LEG (Make 4) ... Work as for Head until 3 rnds have been completed. Break off at end of 3rd rnd.

TAIL ... With Hunter's Green, ch 4. 1st row: 2 dc in 4th ch from hook. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Dc in first 2 dc, dc in top of turning chain. Break off.

Fold Head in half and sew together around rounded end. Sew in place on Body. Complete Legs the same way. Sew Tail to Body.

EYE (Make 2) ... With double strand of Yellow, ch 2. 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join and break off.

Sew Eyes to Head with a piece of Black embroidery floss, making a French knot in center of each Eye.

With Yellow, sc closely around bone ring. Sew in place.
