MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 2 balls of No. 123-A Fla­mingo and 1 ball of No. 12 Black ... Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 4 ... A bone ring.

FRONT ... Starting at top with a double strand of Black, ch 6. 1st row: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 2 sc in last ch. Ch 1, turn. 2nd to 8th rows incl: 2 sc in first sc (1 sc increased), sc in each sc across, 2 sc in last sc. Ch 1, turn. At end of 8th row break off and turn. Attach double strand of Flamingo to first sc. 9th row: Repeat 2nd row. Continue to work in pattern until there are 22 sts on row. Ch 1, turn. Inc 1 sc at beginning of every row until there are 32 sts on row. Now work without increasing until piece measures 4 ½ inches in all. Dec 1 sc at beginning of every row until 18 sts remain—to dec 1 sc, work off 2 sc as 1 sc. Dec 1 sc at both ends for the next 3 rows. Break off and turn. Attach Black, dec 1 sc at both ends for the next 2 rows. Join and break off. Attach a double strand of Flamingo to first Flamingo row and, working across Flamingo only, sc in the end st of each row. Break off. Complete other side to correspond.

CENTER STRIPE ... With Black make a chain 6 ½ inches long. 4 dc in the 4th ch from hook. Break off. Sew in place.

EYE (Make 2) ... Starting at center with a single strand of Flamingo, ch 2. 1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join and break off. Sew Eyes in place at top of pot holder.

SMALL DOT (Make 8) ... Starting at center with Black, ch 2. Work as for first rnd of Eye.

LARGE DOT (Make 2) ... Starting at center with Black, ch 3. 1st rnd: 9 half dc in 3rd ch from hook. Join and break off. Sew Dots in place.

BACK ... Work exactly as for Front.

For Padding, see patternbook page. With wrong sides facing and working through both thicknesses, attach a double strand of Black and with a No. 4 hook, sc closely around Body. Join and break off.

LEG (Make 8) ... Using a double strand of Black, ch 4. 1st row: 2 dc in 4th ch from hook. Ch 4, turn. 2nd row: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, skip 1 dc, sl st in next dc, ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, sl st in top of turning chain. Break off. Sew 2 leg pieces together for each leg. Sew Legs in place.

With Black, sc closely around bone ring. Sew in place.
