MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 1 ball each of No. 1 White and No. 10-A Canary Yellow ... A few yards each of No. 126 Spanish Red and No. 12 Black ... Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7. ... A bone ring.

Starting at center with Canary Yel­low, ch 4. 1st rnd: 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join to top of starting chain. 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each dc around. Join. 4th rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, * dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc (1 dc increased). Repeat from * around. Join. 5th to 12th rnds incl: Ch 3, dc in each dc, increasing 12 dc evenly around. Join. Break off at end of 12th rnd.

WHITE SECTION ... Starting at long side of one strip with White, ch 30, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, * ch 44, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first sc made on previous strip and draw dropped loop through, being careful not to twist chain, sc in first 29 ch. Repeat from * until 11 strips in all have been completed, joining last ch 44 to base of first strip as well as first sc on previous strip, then ch 15, drop loop from hook, insert hook at base of first sc made on first strip, draw dropped loop through. Pin White Section in place over Yellow, spacing strips evenly. Still using White and working over ch 15 and end sc of each strip, sc in each dc around, increasing 6 sc evenly around. Next rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 6 sc evenly around. Join and break off. Following rnd: Attach Yellow to same place as sl st, ch 3, dc in each sc, increasing 12 dc evenly around. Join and break off.

CHERRY ... With Spanish Red, work as for center of pot holder until 2 rnds have been completed. Join and break off. Sew to center. With Black, embroider stem.

Make another piece the same way. For Padding, see patternbook page.  Holding 2 pieces together and work­ing through both thicknesses with Yel­low, sc closely around. Join and break off. With Yellow, sc closely around bone ring. Sew to pot holder.
