MATERIALS: J. & P. Coats or Clark's O.N.T. Pearl Cotton, Size 3, 4 balls of Dark Yellow and 1 ball of Black ... Steel Crochet Hook No. 5 ... A bone ring.

Use double thread throughout.

Starting at center with Yellow, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: 12 sc in ring. Join. Hereafter pick up back loop only. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (24 sc—12 sc increased). Join. 3rd rnd: Sc in each sc around. Join. 4th rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off (36 sc). 5th rnd: At­tach Black, * sc in next 2 sc, make a long sc over next sc—to make a long sc. sc in next sc 2 rnds below. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. 6th to 11th rnds incl: Attach Yellow, sc in each st around, increasing as necessary to keep work flat. Join. Break off at end of 11th rnd. 12th rnd: At­tach Black, * sc in next 3 sc, make a long sc over next sc 3 rnds below. Re­peat from * around. Join and break off. 13th to 20th rnds incl: Attach Yellow and make sc in each sc around, increasing as necessary to keep work flat. Break off at end of 20th rnd. 21st rnd: Attach Black, * sc in next 4 sc, make a long sc over next sc 4 rnds below, ch 4, sc in 4th ch from hook (picot made). Repeat from * around. Join and break off.
