MATERIALS: Clark's O.N.T. Cot­ton Rug Yarn, 1 ball each of Dark Yellow and Red ... Steel Crochet Hook Size G ... A 7-inch piece of wood, ¾ inch in diameter ... 2 brass hooks ... 3 brass rings.

CAT POTHOLDER—Body ... Starting at center with Red, ch 2. 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc). 3rd rnd: * 2 sc in next sc (1 sc in­creased), sc in next sc. Repeat from * around. Continue making sc in each sc around, increasing as necessary to keep work flat—to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc. Do not break off.

TAIL ... Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch, dc in next 2 ch, skip 2 sc on Body, sl st in next sc. Break off.

HEAD ... With Red, work 5 rnds of sc as for Body. Do not break off.

EARS ... Ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, tr in next ch, skip 2 sc on Head, sc in next 3 sc, ch 4 and make opposite Ear to correspond, sl st in next sc. Break off. This completes one side of pot holder. Make other side same as this, using Yellow and making Tail to correspond. Sew both sides together. Sew ring at top. Make another pot holder same as this.

BAR COVER ... With Red, ch 9. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 7 ch. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 7 inches. Break off. Cover wooden bar with this piece and sew edges neatly.

HANGER ... With Yellow, ch 4. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 ch. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in next 3 sc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd row until piece measures 10 inches. Break off. Sew ends of hanger to ends of bar.

CAT ORNAMENT (Make one Red and one Yellow)—Body ... Work 4 rnds of sc as for Head. Do not break off.

TAIL ... Ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch. skip 1 sc of Body, sl st in next sc. Break off.

HEAD ... Work as for first 3 rnds of Body but do not break off.

EARS ... Ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next ch, skip 1 sc of Head, sc in next sc, ch 3 and complete other ear to correspond, sl st in next sc. Break off. Sew Yellow and Red sides together, inserting 3 strands of Yellow between sides for whiskers. Stiffen whiskers with clear nail polish and turn up. Screw hooks in place. Sew ring to top of ornament. Sew orna­ment at top of hanger.
