½ yard black velvet ribbon, ¼ inch wide. ... 3 small snap fasteners. ... A doll 8 inches tall; waist 5 inches.
DRESSSkirt ... Starting at long side of back with Yellow and No. 7 hook, ch 43. 1st row: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next ch, sc in next ch, half dc in next 2 ch, dc in next 8 ch, tr in next 15 ch, d tr in next 14 ch. Ch 5, turn. 2nd row: Skip first d tr, d tr in each d tr, tr in each tr, dc in each dc, half dc in each half dc, sc in sc, sl st in each sl st. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sl st in each sl st, sc in sc, half dc in each half dc, dc in each dc, tr in each tr, d tr in each d tr, d tr in top of turning chain. Ch 5, turn. 4th to 18th rows incl: Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately, ending with 2nd row. Break off at end of 18th row. 19th, 20th and 21st rows: Attach Flamingo and work in pattern. Break off at end of 21st row. 22nd to 26th rows incl: Attach Yellow and work in pattern. Break off at end of 26th row. 27th, 28th and 29th rows: Attach Flamingo and work in pattern. BODICE ... 1st row: Attach Yellow to back opening and make 36 sc evenly across top of Skirt. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first sc, dc in each sc across. Ch 3, turn. 3rd row: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Skip first dc, dc in next 8 dc. Ch 3, turn (back). 5th and 6th rows: Skip first dc, dc in next 4 dc. Break off. Attach thread to other end of last complete row and work other side of back the same way.
FRONT ... 1st row: Attach thread to first free dc on last complete row, ch 3, dc in each dc across. 2nd and 3rd rows: Skip first dc, dc in each dc across. Ch 3, turn.
To Shape Shoulder: Skip first dc, dc in next 4 dc. Break off. Attach thread to other end of last row and complete other shoulder the same way. Sew up shoulder seams.
SLEEVE (Make 2) ... Starting at top with White and No. 10 hook, ch 39. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * draw loop on hook out to measure ⅜ inch, thread over and draw loop through, insert hook between single and double loops and draw loop through, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (knot st made), make another knot st, skip 3 ch, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across, make 2 knot sts and turn. 2nd and 3rd rows: Sc in first free knot of previous row, * make 2 knot sts, sc in next free knot. Repeat from * across, make 2 knot sts and turn. Break off at end of 3rd row. 4th row: With No. 7 hook, attach Flamingo to first free knot, sc in same place, * ch 2, sc in next free knot. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 5th row: Skip first sc, dc in each ch and in each sc across. Break off. 6th row: With No. 10 hook, attach White to first dc, sc in same place, * make 2 knot sts, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * across, make 2 knot sts and turn. 7th and 8th rows: Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows. Sew up sleeve seam. Sew in sleeves.
COLLAR ... 1st row: Attach White to neck and sc closely across. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in first sc, * ch 5, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Break off. Attach Yellow to back opening and sc closely across. Break off. Sew snap fasteners to back opening.
TRIM ... Starting at long side with Flamingo, make a chain 6 ½ inches long. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, half dc in next ch, dc in next 3 ch, tr in each ch across, increasing 8 tr evenly across to within last 6 ch, dc in next 3 ch, half dc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next ch. Break off. Sew in place at front of Dress.
HAT ... Starting at top with Flamingo, ch 2. 1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. 2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in each sc around. Join. 3rd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * 2 sc in next dc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: Sc in back loop of each sc around. Join. 5th rnd: Sc in each sc around. Join. 6th rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, 2 dc in back loop of each sc around. Join. 7th rnd: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, * dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 8th rnd: Sc in each dc around. Join and break off. With White and No. 10 hook, make a chain slightly longer than outer edge of brim, sc in 2nd ch from hook, * make 2 knot sts, sc in next ch. Repeat from * across. Break off. Sew around brim of hat.
BOW ... With Yellow, ch 6. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next 2 ch. Ch 3, turn. 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows: Skip first dc, dc in next 2 dc, dc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Break off at end of 4th row. Sew at center to form a bow. Sew to front of hat. Sew hat to left hand. Tie ribbon around hair.
FLOWER ... Starting at center with White and No. 10 hook, ch 5. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: (Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 3, sl st in ring) 5 times. Join and break off. Tie to right hand.
