MATERIALS:
We suggest thread in sizes 30 to 70

Make a chain slightly longer than desired length. 1st row: S c in 8th ch from hook, ch 5, skip 3 ch, s c in next ch; * ch 11, skip 7 ch, cluster in next ch—to make a cluster, make 3 d c in st, holding back the last loop of each d c on hook; thread over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten—ch 11, skip 7 ch, s c in next ch; (ch 5, skip 3 ch, s c in next ch) twice. Repeat from * across. Fasten off. 2nd row: Attach thread to 3rd st of first loop of 1st row, * ch 5, s c in 3rd st of next loop, ch 11, s c in 9th ch of ch-11, ch 5, s c in 3rd ch of next ch-11, ch 11, s c in 3rd st of next loop. Repeat from * across. Fasten off. 3rd row: Attach thread to 3rd st of first loop of 2nd row, * ch 11, s c in 9th ch of ch-11, ch 5, s c in 3rd st of next ch-5, ch 5, s c in 3rd st of next ch-11, ch 11, s c in 3rd st of ch-5. Repeat from * across. Fasten off. 4th row: Attach thread to same st where previous row started, ch 5, 2 tr in same st, holding back the last loop of each tr on hook, and finish as for a cluster. * Ch 5, 3-tr cluster in same place as last cluster, ch 3, s c in 9th ch of ch-11; (ch 5, s c in 3rd st of next loop) twice, ch 5, s c in 3rd st of next ch-11, ch 3, 3-tr cluster in next s c. Repeat from * across. Fasten off. 5th row: Attach thread to 3rd ch of ch-5 (between clusters) at beginning of previous row, ch 5, 2-tr cluster in same place, * ch 5, 3-tr cluster in same place, ch 5, 3-tr cluster in 3rd ch of next loop; (ch 4, cluster in 3rd ch of next loop) twice, ch 5, cluster in 3rd ch of next loop between clusters. Repeat from * across. Fasten off. 6th row: Attach thread to tip of 1st cluster, on last row; into each loop across (between clusters) make 3 s c, ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from hook (p), and 3 s c. Fasten off.
