Repeat from * until piece is slightly longer than desired measurement, ending with ch 17 after final pair of lattice points. Fasten off. 2nd row: Attach thread to 1st ch of 1st row, ch 1, s c in same place, s c in next 14 ch, * 2 s c in 1st sp of lattice point; (s c in base of next d c, s c in next sp) 6 times; s c in base of next d c, ch 5, turn. Sl st in 15th s c from base of lattice point, ch 1, turn. Into ch-5 loop just made, make 3 s c, ch 5 sl st in 5th ch from hook (p), and 3 s c; 3 s c, p and 3 s c in loop at tip of lattice point; (s c in next d c, s c in next sp) 6 times; s c in next d c, 2 s c in next sp, s c in next 4 ch—between points. Ch 2, p, (ch 1, p) 3 times; (ch 2, p) 3 times; (ch 1, p) 3 times; ch 3, remove hook, skip 2 s c, insert hook in next s c and draw dropped loop through, thus forming a loop having p’s on inside of loop; ch 1, 2 s c over last ch-3; (s c at base of next p, 2 s c between p’s) twice, s c at base of next p, 2 half d c between p’s, half d c at base of next p, 1 d c between p’s, ch 5, turn. Sl st in 4th s c down from p at tip of last point, ch 1, turn. Over ch-5 just made make 3 s c, p, and 3 s c; sl st in last d c; into same sp where last d c was made make 2 d c, p, and 1 d c; 2 d c at base of next p. Do not break off, but work along other side of edging as follows:
   1st row: Ch 8, skip 2 s c, tr in next s c, * (ch 3, skip 3 s c, d c in next s c) 3 times; ch 3, d c at base of lattice point, holding the last loop of this d c and the following 2 d c on hook; skip 1 s c, d c in next s c, d c at base of next lattice point; thread over and draw through all loops at once, ch 1 to fasten—a cluster made; ch 3, d c in next s c; (ch 3, skip 3 s c, d c in next s c) twice, ch 3, skip 3 s c, tr in next s c, ch 1, skip 2 s c, d tr in next s c, skip 4 s c, d tr in next s c, ch 1, skip 2 s c, tr in next s c. Repeat from * across. Fasten off. 2nd row: Attach thread at beginning of last row and work s c closely together across. Fasten off.
