MATERIALS:
Use white, ecru or colors.
HEARTS … Starting at top ch 19. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 45 d c in ring. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made. Hereafter work is done in rows. 1st row: Ch 3, 2 d c in same place as sl st, ch 3, 3 d c in same place, ch 3, skip 2 d c, s c in each of next 23 d c, ch 3, skip 2 d c, in next d c make 3 d c, ch 3 and 3 d c. Ch 3, turn. Hereafter pick up only the back loop of each s c. 2nd row: In ch-3 sp (between two 3-d c groups), make 3 d c, ch 3 and 3 d c (shell over shell), ch 4, skip 1 s c, s c in each of next 21 s c, ch 4, in ch-3 sp (between two 3-d c groups) make 3 d c, ch 3 and 3 d c. Ch 3, turn. Repeat the 2nd row, but having 2 s c less in each s c-group on each row until 3 s c remain. Ch 3, turn. Next row: Shell over shell, ch 4, skip 1 s c, s c in next s c, ch 4, shell over next shell. Ch 3, turn. Following row: 3 d c in ch-3 of shell, ch 1, sl st in ch-3 of shell at opposite side, ch 1, 3 d c back in shell where last 3 d c were made. Fasten off.
Make necessary number of hearts. Place all hearts adjacent to one another, wrong side up. Sew the 3rd turning ch's of each adjacent heart together, counting down from ring at top.
HEADING … 1st row: Attach thread to 1st turning ch-3 at top (next to ring), * ch 9, skip 8 d c of ring, s c in next d c, ch 9, s c in next turning ch-3, ch 9, s c in turning ch-3 of next heart. Repeat from * across. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: D c in each ch and in each s c across. Fasten off.
