On next row, work 4 sts over each ch-4. Continue in pattern until piece measures 1¼". Fasten off.

2nd row: Working only through the back loop of each sc, work h dc in next st and in each st across to last st, 3 h dc in last st. Ch 1, turn. Continue to work in this manner, increasing 2 sts at one end only on each row, until piece meas­ures ½". Next row: Make a buttonhole as on waistband about 1" from increased end. Continue to work as before, but de­creasing 2 sts instead of increasing at buttonhole end each row, until piece measures 1¼". Fasten off.

Pocket … Make a chain of 4". Work in pattern, increasing 2 sts at one end each row until piece measures 2", then dec 2 sts at same end each row, until piece measures 4" in all. Fasten off.

Machine stitch leg seams. Work 1 row of sc around side openings. Sew shoul­der straps to sides of bib (buttonholes at back), adjusting to proper length and allowing extra length of strap to extend inside of waistband at front. Sew on buttons.

SKIRT AND SHORTS

Machine stitch 3 gores together for back and 3 gores for front; then machine stitch side seams, leaving a 3" opening at top.

Front and Back Waistbands, Bib and Shoulder Straps … Work same as for Overalls.
   Work a row of sc along side open­ings. Sew shoulder straps in place (but­tonholes at back), allowing extra length of strap to extend inside of waistband in front. Sew on buttons.

Ch 2, turn. 3rd row: Work­ing only through the back loop of each st, work h dc in next st and in each st across to last st, 2 h dc in last st. Ch 1, turn. 4th to 7th rows incl: Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows alternately 2 more times. Ch 7, turn. 8th row: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, sc in each st to end. Ch 2, turn. 9th row: H dc in back loop only of next st and each st across to last st, 2 h dc in last st, ch 7, turn. Repeat the last 2 rows alternately 2 more times. Make a chain for length of crotch and work in pattern to correspond with Right Leg. Machine stitch Front and Back crotch seams.

Front and Back Waistbands, Bib and Shoulder Straps … Work same as for overalls.
   Machine stitch leg seams. Work a row of sc around side openings. Sew shoulder straps in place (buttonholes at back) adjusting to proper length and allowing extra length of strap to extend inside of waistband at front. Sew on buttons.

CALOT

Gore (Make 5) … Starting at one side, ch 20. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across to last st, 3 sc in last st. Ch 2, turn. 2nd row: Working through the back loop only of each st, work 2 h dc in next st, h dc in each st across to end. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in each st across to last st, 3 sc in top of turning ch. Ch 2, turn. Repeat the 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until row measures 4½". Work 2 rows straight, then work other side to corre­spond, decreasing 2 sts each row instead of increasing, until 19 sts remain. Fasten off. Sew seams. Sew ribbon inside for headband, adjusting to proper headsize.

VISOR CAP

Make 5 gores as for calot. Sew seams, then make visor as follows: With wrong side facing, work 1 row of sc along the bottom edge of 2 gores. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Working in the front loop only of each sc, work sc across, increasing 6 sts evenly across. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Same as 2nd row except work in the back loop only of each sc instead of the front loop. Ch 2, turn. 4th row: Work­ing in the back loop only of each sc, work h dc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. 5th row: Working through both loops of each st, work sc in each st across. Ch 2, turn. Repeat the 4th and 5th rows for pattern, decreasing 1 st at both ends of each row until visor measures 2". Fasten off. With wrong side facing, attach thread at one end of visor and work 1 row of sc around, rounding cor­ners. Fasten off.
