Milward's Steel Crochet Hook No. 6.
11 yards of velvet ribbon, ¼" wide.
5 buttons ⅝" in diameter.

2nd row: Dc in 3 dc, then make opening for buttonhole as follows: Turn, ch 3, work dc in next 2 dc and in top of turn­ing ch. Do not fasten off, but attach a 2nd ball of thread to next dc of 1st row, ch 3, dc in next dc, dc in each remaining dc across and in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. Buttonhole end of row is right back band. 3rd row: Dc in next dc and in each st across to buttonhole opening. Fasten off. 4th row: Pick up 1st ball of thread, ch 3 and work dc in next dc and in each dc across, thus joining top of buttonhole. Ch 3, turn. This completes waistband.

BODICE1st Tier1st row: Dc in next 7 dc, * ch 2, skip 2 sts, 3 dc in next st (cluster made). Repeat from * across until there are

NOTE: A group of 2 clusters with ch 3 at both sides and 1 sc make one lace pat­tern, and should measure 1¼".

To make 2nd shoulder, attach thread to 6th dc-group from other end of front, and work to correspond with 1st shoul­der. Fasten off.
   To make 2nd back, starting where work was divided for front, skip 2 groups of 3 dc, attach thread to 1st dc of next group, and work to correspond with 1st back. Fasten off. Sew shoulder seams, matching patterns.

Back Bands … Attach thread to sts of left back band, ch 3, and continue to work dc's, working ch 3 to turn, until piece measures from bottom of waistband

Fasten off.

Sew back seam of skirt, leaving a 3" vent at top. Sew sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves, easing extra fullness in across top 3" of shoulder. Work 2 rows of dc around bottom of sleeve, holding sleeve edge in to fit. Press through damp cloth with hot iron. Run velvet ribbon through headings and adjust to proper measure­ments. Tie bows as in illustration. Sew on buttons. Sew a snap fastener at top of back opening.
   If desired, make a casing inside of waistband, and run elastic through cas­ing, adjusting to fit waist measurement.
