Aluminum Crochet Hook Size K OR ANY SIZE HOOK WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW
Scraps White, Black, Red, Chart­reuse felt

GAUGE: 5 sts = 2 inches

NOTE: Entire rug is worked with double strand of yarn.

BODY: Ch 4, join to form a ring, ch 3, work 7 d c in ring, join in top of ch 3 for all rounds. 2nd ROUND: Ch 3 (counts as 1 d c), 2 d c in same space, * 3 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around.  3rd ROUND: Ch 3, 1 d c in same space, * 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around. 4th ROUND: Work even. 5th ROUND: Ch 3, 1 d c in same space, * 1 d c in next d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around. 6th ROUND: Work even. 7th ROUND: Ch 3, 1 d c in same space, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around. 8th ROUND: Work even. 9th ROUND: Ch 3, 1 d c in same space, * 1 d c in each of the next 3 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around. 10th ROUND: Work even. 11th ROUND: Ch 3, 1 d c in same space, * 1 d c in each of the next 4 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around. 12th ROUND: Work even, cut yarn.

FACE: Work 1st 6 rounds of body section in same manner, do not cut yarn at end of the 6th round. EARS: Ch 3, 1 d c in each of the next 8 d c, ch 3 turn. 2nd ROW: 1 d c in each d c, ch 3, turn. 3rd ROW: Work in d c dec 1 st at beg and end of row, ch 3, turn. NEXT 3 ROWS: Repeat 3rd row, cut yarn. Skip 5 d c, attach yarn in next d c and complete ear same as 1st ear.

FRINGE: Open skein and cut into 8 lengths, take 3 strands, fold in half, insert hook under d c, pick up 3 strands, pull through, then pull ends through loop. Work a fringe over each d c in all rounds of body section and on face sec­tion as illustrated.

TAIL: Ch 11 and work 1 d c in 4th st from hook and in each remain­ing st of ch, ch 3 to turn all rows. 2nd ROW: Work 1 d c in each d c. Repeat 2nd row until tail meas­ures 12 inches. Cover with fringe. Gather one side slightly to shape.

FINISHING: Cut features from felt and glue in place as illustrated. Sew in place to body section. Sew tail in place.

BOW-TIE: With Pink and single strand of yarn, ch 11, 1 s c in 2nd st from hook and in each remain­ing st of ch, ch 1 to turn all rows. 2nd ROW: 1 s c in each s c. 3rd ROW: Work in s c dec 1 st at beg and end of row. 4th ROW: 1 s c in each s c. Repeat 3rd and 4th rows 3 times. NEXT 3 ROWS: Work even. NEXT 6 ROWS: Con­tinue in s c but work inc to cor­respond to dec, cut yarn. Sew in place to face.
