Hat and Bag with smart Basket Bag Bottoms for hat's crown and bag's bottom.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:
DRITZ Luxury Belastraw Art. 110, 1 tube for Hat; 2 tubes for Bag
DRITZ Glitter Twist Art. 143, 1 tube for Hat; 2 tubes for Bag
DRITZ Basket Bag Bottom No. 261, 1 piece each for Hat and Bag
DRITZ Metal Crochet Hook No. 2 A button 1⅛" in diameter
Lining material and crinoline

GAUGE: 6 sc = 1"

BAG

With Belastraw, * insert hook through straw basket ½" down from next point and make 3 sc in point. Repeat from * around having a multiple of 4 sts around. Join with sl st in 1st sc.

1st, 2nd and 3rd rnds: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in each sc around. Join. At end of 3rd rnd drop Belastraw, attach Glitter Twist.
4th rnd: Ch 1, * make a long sc in next st 1 row down—to make a long sc, insert hook in specified place and pull loop through, yo and draw through 1 loop, yo and draw through 2 loops. Make a long sc in next st 2 rows down, long sc in next st 3 rows down, long sc in next st 2 rows down. Repeat from * around. Join and end off Twist. Pick up Belastraw.
5th, 6th and 7th rnds: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in each st around.
Repeat 1st to 7th rnds incl 5 more times; then work sl st loosely in each sc around. End off. Line with lining material reinforced with crinoline.

BUTTONLOOP FLAP: With Belastraw ch 38, sl st in 14th ch with hook.
1st rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in 23 ch, 3 sc in last ch; then working along opposite side of starting chain make sc in 24 ch, sc in 6 ch of loop. 3 sc in next, sc in re­maining 6 ch of loop. Mark last st of rnd.
2nd rnd: * Sc in each sc to 1st sc of next 3-sc group, 3 sc in 1st sc (corner), sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc (corner). Repeat from * once more, sc in each remaining sc of rnd.
3rd and 4th rnds: * Sc in each sc to center sc of next corner, 3 sc in center sc. Repeat from * 3 more times; sc in each remaining sc of rnd. Drop Belastraw, attach Glitter Twist.
5th rnd: Repeat 4th rnd of Bag.
6th rnd: Sc in each sc making 3 sc in each corner; then sl st loosely in each sc. End off.

HANDLE: With Belastraw ch 86.
1st rnd: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch, 3 sc in last ch, sc in each ch along opposite side of starting chain.
2nd to 6th rnds incl: Same as 2nd to 6th rnds incl of Buttonloop Flap.

BUTTON: With Glitter ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: 7 sc in ring.
2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc (14 sc).
3rd rnd: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next. Repeat from * around (21 sc).
4th and 5th rnds: Sc in each sc. Slip button inside this piece.
6th rnd: * Sc in 2 sc, skip next sc. Repeat from * until opening is closed. End off.
Fold top edge to form side gussets and tack. Sew ends of Handle to gussets along top of 2nd row of long sc's counting from top edge. Sew Buttonloop Flap in place. Sew on button.

HAT

CROWN: Work same as Bag until 6th rnd has been completed; then work sl st in each sc around.

BRIM: Working in sc's (behind sl sts) make * sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in next. Repeat from * around having a multiple of 4 sts around. Now work 1st to 7th rnds incl of Bag; then repeat 7th rnd once more.

Next rnd: Sc in back loop of each sc around. Join. Work 2 rnds straight. End off. Fold Brim under at ridge and whip in place.
