Use one strand each of "Speed-Cro-Sheen" and "Knit-Cro-Sheen" Metallic together throughout.
GAUGE: 4 sts make 1 inch; 2 sc rnds and 1 star stitch rnd make 1 inch.
Starting at center, ch 2. 1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 3rd rnd: Ch 3, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook and draw loop through, insert hook in next ch and draw loop through, insert hook in back loop of same sc as sl st and draw loop through, insert hook in back loop of next sc and draw loop through, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 to fasten (a star st made), * insert hook in fastening ch and draw loop through, insert hook in last loop of previous star st and draw loop through, insert hook in back loop of same sc as last loop of previous star st was made and draw loop through, insert hook in back loop of next sc and draw loop through, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 (another star st made). Repeat from * around. Join to 3rd ch of ch-3 (14 star sts). 4th rnd: Ch 1, * sc in top of next star st, sc in fastening ch of same star st. Repeat from * around. Join (28 sc). 5th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd (28 star sts). 6th rnd: Ch 1, * sc in top of next 2 star sts, sc in next fastening ch (1 sc increased). Repeat from * around. Join (42 sc). 7th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd. 8th rnd: Ch 1, sc in each star st, increasing 14 sc evenly around. Join. 9th to 12th rnds incl: Repeat 7th and 8th rnds alternately 2 more times. 13th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd. 14th rnd: Ch 1, sc in each star st around. 15th and 16th rnds: Repeat 13th and 14th rnds. Turn. Next rnd: With wrong side facing, sl st in each sc around. Join and break off.
BRAID ... Wind one strand each of "Speed-Cro-Sheen" and "Knit-Cro-Sheen" Metallic 99 times around an 18-inch ruler, tie piece of thread securely around one end. Divide strands into 3 equal sections and make a braid. Tie ribbon in a bow 3 inches from bottom. Cut loose ends and trim evenly. Sew braid securely to center of Beanie.
