16 Small Buttons.

With Turquoise, ch 58 (about 6 ¼ inches) and work 57 s c on chain.

2nd Row. Ch 1, 1 s c in each s c and work 17 more rows of s c, break thread.

20th Row. Join thread in first s c at top of band and work s c in first 13 s c, ch 1, turn and work 4 more rows even.

25th Row. 1 s c in each s c, ch 27 (for shoulder), ch 1 turn, work 26 s c on ch and s c in each s c and work 7 rows of s c.

33rd Row. 1 s c in each of the first 3 s c, * ch 6, skip 5 s c, s c in next s c (buttonhole), 1 s c in each of the next 3 s c and repeat from * across row. 1 s c in each s c and ch and work 2 more rows of s c, break thread.

ARM BAND. Join thread in first s c at lower edge, work 1 s c in first 13 s c (leaving 13 s c free between arm band and yoke), ch 1, turn and work 40 more rows of s c, break thread and make other side to correspond. With White work a row of s c around entire yoke and armbands, working 3 s c in corners to keep work flat, break thread. Around lower part of yoke work a second row of s c, taking up top loop of st only, break thread and make another piece for back yoke.

Join Turquoise between arm band and yoke in back loop of first row of white s c and work pattern over 13 s c. Ch 4, thread over, insert needle in first st, thread over, pull through, thread over, insert in same st, with joining, over and pull through, thread over, and work off all loops 2 at a time, * Ch 1, thread over, insert in lowest loop of pattern st just made, thread over, insert in next free loop of 1st row of white s c (leaving the 2nd row of s c free), thread over and work off all loops 2 at a time, repeat from * across row. (13 patterns.)

2nd Row. Ch 4, work 13 patterns with 1 ch between, working into the back loop at st only. Work 2 more rows, break thread and work other side to correspond, without breaking thread ch 4, turn and work across 13 patterns, 1 pattern in back loop of 1st row of s c of yoke and last 13 patterns, ch 4, turn and work 2 more rows of pattern, break thread and work other half of yoke the same. Join front and back yoke, ch 4, work pattern increasing in every other pattern. Join each row, turn and start each row with ch 4. Work 9 more rows of pattern even. Next row increase in every 10th pattern and work even until dress is length desired. Around lower edge of dress work 2 rows of d c.

Sew the two shoulder pieces to sides of yoke and arm bands.

Embroider the designs in little Rambler Roses and 2 leaves, using 6 strands of "Silkine" Art Thread.

Attach two buttons together and slip through buttonholes.
