Corn Lamp Pull Pattern

J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 28 yards of No. 43 Dk. Yellow and 17 yards of No. 26-B Bright Nile Green.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
Cotton batting.

CORN COB ... Starting at center with Dk. Yellow, ch 4. 1st rnd: 9 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join to top of ch-4. 2nd rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), 4 dc in same place as sl st, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of ch-3 and draw dropped loop through (pc st made), * ch 1 to fasten, 5 dc in next dc, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of first dc and draw dropped loop through (another pc st made). Repeat from * around, ending with ch 1. Join (10 pc sts). 3rd, 4th and 5th rnds: Ch 3, make a pc st in same place as sl st, pc st in top of each pc st around. Join. 6th rnd: Make pc st over each pc st, skipping 2 pc sts evenly spaced (2 decreases made). Join Stuff firmly. 7th and 8th rnds: Work as for 6th rnd, decreasing 2 pc sts on each rnd (do not decrease over previous decreases). Join. At end of 8th rnd, leave a 7-inch length of thread. Thread into a needle and sew the 4 pc sts together at tip.

LEAF (Make 4) ... Starting at side of leaf with Bright Nile Green, ch 12. 1st row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, half dc in next 3 ch, dc in next 3 ch, tr in next 2 ch. Break off. Sew 4 leaves in place at center of top.

CORD ... Cut 8 strands of Bright Nile Green, each 1 yard long. Twist these strands tightly, then double these strands and give them a twist in the opposite direction. Knot free ends. Sew cord in place.
