COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MER­CERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 20 balls of No. 126 Spanish Red.

Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).

4 cards of yellow rick-rack braid No. 29 ... 21 metal rings.

GAUGE: 5 sps make 4 inches; 2 dc and 2 sc rows make 1½ inches.

24 x 90 inches

Starting at top, make a chain 3 yards long. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, * ch 3, skip, 3 ch, dc in next 2 ch. Repeat from * until there are 109 dc-groups on row (if different size curtain is required, have number of dc-groups divisible by 5 and 4 more at end of row). Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in first 2 dc, * ch 3, sc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.

3rd row: Skip first sc, dc in next sc, * ch 3, dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 22 inches, ending with 2nd row. Ch 3, turn. Next row: Skip first sc, dc in next sc, * 3 dc in next sp, dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * across. Break off.

POINT ... 1st row: Attach thread to first st on oppo­site side of starting chain, sc in same place, sc at base of next dc, (ch 3, sc at base of next 2 dc) 3 times. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first sc, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 2 sc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint-dc made), dc in next sc, ch 3,  dc in next sc, make a joint-dc over next 2 sc, dc in next sc. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in joint dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sc in next dc, sc in next joint dc. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Skip first sc, make a joint dc over next 2 sc, dc in next sc. Ch 1, turn. 5th row: Insert hook in first dc, draw loop through, (insert hook in next st, draw loop through) 3 times: thread over and draw through all loops on hook. Break off. Skip 1 dc group, attach thread at base of next group and complete another point. Continue working in this manner until all points have been completed.

Block to measurements. Sew a metal ring to each point. Lace rick-rack through first 4 rows at bottom. Sew ends securely.
