MATERIALS REQUIRED:
4 oz. white 3 ply yarn—1 oz. pink 3 ply yarn—4 yds. ⅜" pink ribbon. No. 4 bone crochet hook.

JACKET
YOKE—ch 66.
ROW 1—Sc in 2nd ch. from hook—*ch 1 skip 1 ch—sc in next—repeat from* across row—ch 1 turn.
ROW 2—sc in 1st sc—*ch 1—sc under the ch 1 of previous row (seed st)—repeat from* twice more—then (ch 1—sc in the next sc of previous row) inc—ch 1—sc under next ch 1—continue across row making an inc. after every 3rd st—ch 1—turn.
ROWS 3 AND 4—Work in seed st with no increases.
ROW 5—Continue in seed st making an inc after every 4th st—and picking up only the back sts across row. (Instead of making the sc under the ch—pick up the back thread of the ch each time—thus making a ridge for the trim).
ROWS 6 AND 7—Seed st with no increases. ROW 8—Inc after every 5th st. ROW 9—No increases but pick up the back threads for another ridge. ROW 10—Same as row 3. ROW 11—Inc after every 6th st. ROW 12—Same as row 3. ROW 13—Same as row 9. ROW 14—Inc after every 7th st. ROW 15 AND 16—Same as rows 3 and 4. ROW 17—Sc in each sc and sc under each ch 1—pick up only the back sts for a ridge—turn. ROW 18—Skip the 1st sc—sc in next—*skip 1—sc in next—ch 2—sc in next—repeat from* across ending with a ch 2 and a sc in last sc of previous row—(referred to as sc pattern). There should be 58—loops of the ch 2.
BREAK YARN
SLEEVE—ROW 1—Leaving 8 of the ch 2 loops for the front—attach yarn in next—ch 3—(to count a dc of shell) 2 more dc's under same ch 2—loop—(shell) 3 dc under the next ch 2 loop—repeat until there are 13 shells—ch 3 turn.
ROW 2—Make a row of sc pattern as for row 18—(always start such rows with the ch 3 loop and end with ch 2 and sc in last st of previous row)—repeat rows 1 and 2—until there are 8 rows of the shell pattern in sleeve—ch 1 turn.
CUFF—Sc—across row skipping every 3rd st.ch 1 turn—work 4 rows of seed st as for yoke picking up only the back single sts in the first row of cuff. Turn to wrong side and seam sleeve with sc.—Leaving 16 of the ch 2—loops for the back-attach yarn in next loop and make the other sleeve.
BODY
—Attaching yarn at left front—work a row of shell patterns across entire row—making an extra shell at each side of the sleeve seams—ch 3 turn—work alternate as for rows 1 and 2 of sleeve—until there are 10 rows of shells—(each sc row—starts and ends with the ch 2 loop-making a shell at the beginning and end of the following row.)
NECK EDGE—Attach yarn at left side of neck edge—sc in each sc and sc in each ch 1—across—ch 3 turn—work 1 row of sc pattern picking up only the back single sts. Then 1 row of shell pattern. BREAK YARN.
TRIM—with pink—and starting from the left side—sl st along the ridges of yoke and the cuffs. Make the sc pattern with pink around the entire jacket—with a ch 3—between the sc instead of ch 2—Run ribbon thru the sc pattern at neck edge and tie in bow—run ribbon thru the pattern at yoke and finish with two more bows.

BONNET
CROWN—ch 3 and join in a ring. 1ST RND—6 sc in ring. 2ND RND—2 sc in each sc of previous rnd—(do not join rnds.)
3RD RND—*sc in 1st sc—2 sc in next (drawing the yarn out between the sc to show the crown sections)—continue from* around. Repeat the rnds making 6 increases in each rnd until there are 11 sc between each inc or 78 sc in rnd—then make 4 rnds without increasing.
FRONT—Leaving one section of crown for the neck—work across the remaining 5 sections in pattern until there are 4 rows of shell pattern. Then 1 row of sc—picking up only the back sts—for a ridge—4 rows of seed st—as for yoke—BREAK YARN. With pink—starting on right side—sl st along face edge and along the ridge at the edge of seed st rows.
RUFFLE—Starting on left and picking up the white single sts on back side of sl st row—make *2 dc in first st—1 dc in next and repeat from* across row. BREAK YARN.
Starting again on left—make another ruffle the same—picking up only the back single sts of first ruffle—With pink—sl st across ridge between the ruffles and edge top of ruffle as for jacket.

BOOTIES
TOE—WITH PINK—ch 9—turn—skip 1 ch—8 sc in ch—ch 1—turn *sc across—st for st—ch 1—turn. Repeat from* until there are 8 rows of sc—ch 20 and join with sl st in 1st st at beginning of last row. BREAK YARN.
FOOT WITH WHITE—Attach yarn in center back of ch—sc around entire foot making 2 sc in each front cor­ner of toe piece (do not join rnds)—make 7 more rnds of sc—st for st—dec 1 st at center toe and 1 st at center heel in each of the last 2 rnds. Turn to wrong side and join edges of sole with sc—picking up only the back single sts. BREAK YARN.
TOP—attach yarn at center back of ankle and work in pattern as for sleeves until there are 5 rows of shell pat­tern—seam with sc.
WITH PINK—sl st around the last rnd of sole—and edge the top as for jacket. Run ribbon through the 1st sc pattern row and around top and tie.
