THREE PIECE INFANT'S SET
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
4 oz. white 3 ply yarn—1 ball white rayon yarn—4 yds. White ½" ribbon. No. 6 bone crochet hook—3 buttons.
JACKET
YOKE: ch 52.
ROW 1—sc in 2nd ch—sc in next ch—*ch 1—skip 1 ch—sc in next—repeat from* across row—turn.
ROW 2—sc in 1st sc of row 1—sc under ch 1—*ch 1—sc under next ch 1—repeat from* across row—Repeat row 2—14 times.
ROW 17—sc in 1st sc of row 16—sc under ch 1—*ch 1—sc under next ch 1—repeat from* until there are 9 sc—turn.
Repeat row 17—8 times.
ROW 27—Repeat row 17 to neck edge—ch 10—turn.
ROW 28—sc in 2nd ch from hook—sc in next ch—ch 1—skip 1 ch—sc in next—repeat across right front the same as for back for 15 more rows. BREAK YARN. Join yarn at end of 16th row and make left shoulder and front the same as right—ch 1—turn.
Sc in each sc and sc under each ch 1—across left front—back and right front—skipping the shoulder stitches.
BODY:
ROW 1—ch 3—2 dc in same st as ch 3 (ch 3 counts as dc of a half shell)—*skip 2 sc—1 sc in next—skip 2 sc—a shell of 5 dc in next—repeat from* across row—skipping only 1 sc instead of 2 sc on both sides of the underarm sc (there should be 19 shells across row counting the half shells at each end)—ch 1—turn.
ROW 2—1 sc in top of half shell—*Shell of 5 dc in next sc—picking up only the back thread—1 sc in top of next shell. Repeat from *across row.
Repeat rows 1 and 2—10 times, making 12 rows of shell pattern.
ROWS 13 AND 14—The same as preceding rows except making 7 dc in each shell instead of 5 dc.
ROW 15—The same as preceding rows except making 9 dc in each shell. BREAK YARN.
SLEEVES
Starting at underarm—make 40 sc around armhole and join with a sl st.
RND 1—(Working from the wrong side)—ch 3—2 dc in same st as ch 3—skip 2 sc—sc in next—make 6 complete shell patterns and finish rnd with 2 dc in same st as first half shell—join with sl st—ch 1 turn.
RND 2—sc in top st of shell and continue in pattern ending rnd with sl st in 1st sc—repeat rnds 1 and 2—until there are 13 rows of shells in sleeve—ch 1—turn.
RND 14—sc around top of shells (5 sc to each shell) skipping the sc between shells. Join with sl st.
BEADING—ch 4—*skip 1 sc of previous row—dc in next sc—ch 1—repeat from *around sleeve—join with sl st—and turn—sc in each dc and in under each ch 1—of beading—join with sl st.
RUFFLE AROUND SLEEVES—Make 6 complete shells of 9 dc—starting and ending rnd with a half shell—join with sl st and BREAK YARN.
BEADING AT NECK—sc across neck edge and make beading as for sleeves. Finish neck edge with a row of shells—the same as row 1 of body—BREAK YARN.
EDGING—With rayon—make a row of sc with ch 1 between—around entire jacket and sleeves.
BONNET
CROWN—ch 3 and join in ring.
RND 1—6 sc in ring (do not join rounds).
RND 2—2sc in each sc of rnd 1.
RND 3—*1 sc in 1st sc—2 sc in next sc (increase)—repeat from *around. Repeat the rounds, making 6 increases in each round until there are 11 sc between each increase—making 78 sc. Make 3 rounds of sc without increasing—ch 3 turn.
FRONT—(Working from wrong side)—ROW 1—2 dc in same sc as ch 3—(ch 3 counts as a dc of half shell) *skip 2 sc—sc in next—skip 2 sc—5 dc in next—repeat from* 9 times—skip 2 sc—3 dc in next—(thus leaving one crown section for the neck) ch 1—turn.
Continue in pattern the same as for body of jacket until there are 8 rows of shells across front—ch 3 turn.
RUFFLE—the same as preceding rows making 9 dc in each shell and picking up only the back sts of the previous row. BREAK YARN.
Make 3 rows of sc across the front—making 1 sc in each dc of shells and skipping the sc between shells in the first row.
Finish the face edge with 1 row of sc—st for st with rayon.
NECK EDGE—Starting at left front make 14 sc across bottom front—spacing evenly—skip 1st sc of crown—5 sc in crown—st for st—skip next sc—5 sc—st for st—skip next sc—14 sc across right neck edge, ch 1—turn.
Sc in each sc across row. Edge the ruffle with rayon the same as for jacket.
BOOTIES
TOE—ch 9—turn—skip 1 ch—8 sc in ch—ch 1—turn* sc across—st for st—ch 1—turn—repeat from* until there are 8 rows of sc—ch 20 and join with sl st in 1st st at beginning of last row. BREAK YARN.
FOOT—attach yarn in center back of ch—sc around entire foot, making 2 sc in each front corner of toe piece (do not join rounds)—make 7 more rnds of sc—st for st—dec 1 st at center toe and 1 st at center heel in each of the last 2 rnds. Turn to wrong side and join edges of sole with sc—picking up only the back single sts. BREAK YARN. Starting a center back make a rnd of sc around ankle, including toe piece—join with sl st—make a beading the same as for sleeves.
TOP—Working from wrong side for first round—make four rounds of pattern st the same as for sleeves—Then make 1 rnd—with 9 dc in each shell—Edging—as for sleeves.
