Baby Bottle Cosy Pattern

MATERIALS:
To keep the bottle warm when off for an afternoon visit, a bottle cosy crocheted with Beehive Superior Double Knitting Patonised is just the thing. You will need:—1 (2 oz.) ball and one No. G Plastic Crochet Hook (American Gauge).

Ch. 4 sts. Join with s.s. to form ring.
1st round: 7 s.c. in ring.
2nd round: 2 s.c. in each s.c. of previous round.
3rd round: *2 s.c. in 1.s.c. 1.s.c. in next s.c. Repeat from * to end of round.

Continue in s.c. increasing where necessary to keep work flat until circle measures approx. 2½ ins. in diameter and there are 31 s.c. in round. Proceed:—

1st round: *4 d.c. in 1.s.c. Slip loop off hook. Insert hook through 1st. d.c. in usual manner and inserting hook in the loop once more, pull the loop through the d.c. (This makes one popcorn), 1.s.c. in each of next 3 s.c. Repeat from * to end of round. (8 popcorns in round).
2nd and 3rd rounds: 1.s.c. in each st. (31 s.c. in round).
4th round: As 1st. round, being careful popcorns are placed between those of previous round.
5th and 6th rounds: As 2nd and 3rd rounds.
Repeat these 6 rounds until work measures 6½ ins. or desired length, from 1st. popcorn round and will fit evenly over the whole bottle, ending with 3rd pattern round. Proceed:—

1st round: (eyelets); *Ch. 2. Miss 2 s.c. 1.s.c. in next s.c. Repeat from * to end of round. (10 spaces in round).
2nd round: 2.s.c. in each space and 1.s.c. in each s.c. (30 s.c. in round).
3rd round: 1.s.c. in each s.c.
4th round: *Popcorn in 1st. st. 1.s.c. in each of next 2 s.c. Repeat from * to end of round.
5th round: *Ch. 3. 1.s.c. in 1st. Ch. for picot. 1.s.c. in each of next 3 s.c. Repeat from * to end of round. Fasten off.

With double wool crochet 2 chains each 15 ins. long. Thread each chain through eyelets and sew ends together.
