MATERIALS
#5 Pearl Cotton (50 yards in a ball).

1 skein of Brown Embroidery Floss (6 strand).
#4 steel crochet hook.

GAUGE ON LEAVES: 15 sc equal 2 inches.

IMPORTANT: Before starting your crocheted article, make a 3 inch square swatch of the pattern stitch to be used with the hook and yarn specified in the instructions. Count the number of stitches and rows you get to the inch. If you get MORE stitches to the inch than specified in the instructions, you are working tightly, so change to a LARGER hook; if you get LESS stitches to the inch, you are working loosely, so change to a SMALLER hook. By checking the stitch gauge you are assuring yourself of perfectly sized articles at all times.
