MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Knitting Worsted, 35 balls (1 oz. balls) each of Pearl Grey and Paddy Green … Bone Afghan Hook No. 6 (4¼ mm. size).

GAUGE: 5 sts make 1 inch; 4 rows make 1 inch.

BLOCK (Make 108) … With Green ch 36 to measure 7¼ inches. Work in afghan stitch (see patternbook page) , decreasing 1 st at both ends of the second row and every row thereafter until 3 loops remain on row, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops, ch 1 to fasten, Break off. Working along opposite side of starting chain, attach Grey to first vertical bar on Green and draw loop through, draw up a loop in each Green vertical bar across (36 loops). Complete as for first half of Block. With corresponding colors make a row of sc all around outer edges. Join and break off.
   Sew 9 rows of 12 Blocks neatly together on wrong side, always having opposite colors meet.

BORDER … 1st rnd: Attach Grey to one corner and make (sc in each sc to next corner, 3 sc in corner sc) twice. Break off Grey, attach Green and work other 2 sides to correspond. Join and break off Green. 2nd to 7th rnds incl: With corresponding colors make sc in each sc around, having 3 sc in center sc of each corner. Join and break off.
