Continue to make d c in each of next 39 ch (left sleeve); 2 d c, ch 3 and 2 d c in next ch (shell); d c in each of next 68 ch (Front), 2 d c, ch 3 and 2 d c in next ch (shell); d c in each of next 39 ch (right sleeve); 2 d c, ch 3 and 2 d c in next ch (shell), d c in each of 34 ch (Right Back). Ch 6, turn. 2nd row: * Skip 1st d c, d c in next d c, ch 6. Repeat from * to within ch-2; ch 6, in ch-2 make 2 d c, ch 3 and 2 d c; ch 6 and continue thus across. Ch 6, turn. 3rd to 7th rows incl: * S c in next loop, ch 6. Repeat from * across, making shell over each shell. Ch 6, turn. 8th row: * S c in next loop, ch 6. Repeat from * to within shell, ch 6, shell over shell, ch 5, d c in last d c of shell, ** ch 2, s c in next loop, ch 2, d c in next s c, ch 5, skip next ch-6 loop, d c in next s c. Repeat from ** to within next shell, ch 2, d c in 1st d c of shell, ch 5, shell over shell. *** Ch 6, s c in next loop. Repeat from *** to shell; make shell over shell. Work over left sleeve to correspond with right sleeve; make shell over shell, and continue to make ch-6 loops to end of row. Ch 6, turn. 9th row: Make ch-6 loops across Left Back, shell over shell; * ch 2, s c in ch-5 loop, ch 2, d c in next d c, ch 5, d c in next d c. Repeat from * across sleeve, ending with s c in last loop, ch 2, shell over shell; ch 6 and continue to make ch-6 loops across Front; shell over shell. Work right sleeve and Back to correspond. Ch 6, turn. Repeat 8th and 9th rows alternately until there are 21 rows of shells in all. Hereafter work is done in rounds instead of rows. 1st rnd: Make ch-6 loops across Back to within shell, ch 6, skip next 2 shells; continue to make ch-6 loops across Front to within shell of next sleeve, ch 6, skip 2 shells and make ch-6 loops across other Back. Do not turn but continue to make 2 more rnds of ch-6 loops. 4th rnd: Ch 3, d c in s c at base of ch-3 just made, * ch 3, d c in next s c, ch 3, 2 d c in next s c. Repeat from * around, ending with ch-3. Join with sl st to 3rd st of ch-3 first made (this is waistline). Do not break off.

Skirt 1st rnd: S c between ch-3 and d c, ch 5, s c in ch-3 sp, ch 5, s c in next d c, ch 5, s c in next ch-3, ch 5, s c in same ch-3 (increase); ch 5. Work in this manner around, making 15 more increases at equal distances apart. 2nd to 4th rnds incl: * Ch 5, s c in next loop. Repeat from * around (this completes a loop stripe). 5th rnd: Ch 8, * d c in next s c, ch 2, s c in next loop, ch 2, d c in next s c, ch 5. Repeat from * around, ending with ch-2. Join to 3rd st of ch-8 first made. 6th rnd: Ch 5, s c in ch-5 loop, * ch 2, d c in next d c, ch 5, d c in next d c, ch 2, s c in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending with ch-5. Join to 3rd st of ch-5 first made. 7th to 10th rnds incl: Repeat 5th and 6th rnds alternately (this completes a lacet stripe). 11th rnd: * Ch 5, s c in next d c. Repeat from * around (thus starting another loop stripe). Hereafter alternate loop stripes and lacet stripes as follows: 5 rnds of loops, 6 rnds of lacets; 5 rnds of loops, 7 rnds of lacets; 6 rnds of loops, 8 rnds of lacets; 7 rnds of loops, 11 rnds of lacets; 8 rnds of loops and 10 rnds of lacets. Next rnd: Ch 8, sl st in 4th ch from hook (ch-4 p made), ch 1, d c where ch-8 started; * ch-4 p, ch 1, d c in next d c, p, ch 1, d c in same place as last d c. Repeat from * around. Fasten off.

Sleeves … Attach thread to center of 2 shells at underarm of sleeve and work as for lacet stripes for 9 rnds. 10th rnd: * Ch 8, 2 d c in next d c, ch 5, d c in next d c, ch 5. Repeat from * around, ending with d c where ch-8 started. Join to 3rd st of ch-8 first made. 11th rnd: S c between last d c and ch-3, ** ch 1, d c in next d c, * ch-4 p, ch 1, d c in same place as last d c. Repeat from * 2 more times, ch-4 p, ch 1, s c between next 2 d c. Repeat from ** around, ending with ch-1. Join and break off.
