MATERIALS—Lily Rug Yarn, Art. 241:—14-skeins Yellow (or other colors). Crochet hook size H-6. Size —23" x 38".

Ch 86, sk last st, sc in next 40 sts, ch 46, turn ch over, wrong-side-up, sk last ch st, sc in next 44 sts, sk next ch st and 1st sc, sc in next 38 sc (thru both loops), 3 sc in end sc, then on opposite side, 3 sc in 1st st, sc in next 38 sts, sk 2 sts in angle, sc in next 44 ch sts. Make bal. of rows in back loops. ROW 2—Ch 1, turn, 43 sc, sk 2 sc in angle, 38 sc, 3 sc in corner st, 2 sc across end, 3 sc in corner st, 33 sc, sk 2 sc in angle, 43 sc. ROW 3—Ch 1, turn, sc across to angle (1 less sc than last row), sk 2 sc in angle, 38 sc, 3 sc in corner st, sc across end (2 more sts than last row, but always an even number of sts), 3 sc in middle sc of corner shell, 38 sc, sk 2 sc in angle, sc in each re­maining sc. Repeat Row 3 thru Row 43. ROW 44—Ch 1, turn, sk last 3 sc, sc in 38 sc, 3 sc in corner, sc across end, 3 sc in corner, 38 sc, sk 2 sc in angle, sl st in end sc. Fasten off. Make a 2d piece. Hold right sides together and crochet together with a sl st thru both loops of each st across last row (center of rug). Work very tightly.

EDGE—Make 1 sc in each st on ends, a 3 sc shell in corners, and (sc in 5 rows, sk 6th row) repeated on sides. ROW 2—1 sc in each sc (thru both loops), with 3 sc corner shells. ROW 3—1 sl st in each sc, worked tightly. Fasten off.

Stretch and pin right-side-down in true shape. Steam and press dry thru a cloth.

FLUFF FRINGE—Tie a 20-strand tuft in every 3d st around edge.
